Not sure if someone mentioned this (not sure if it's actually real) .... someone said that in the original 'Back To The Future' ... they asked the person what he say in the future ... which was 2015 .... and they responded that the Cubs win the WS (or are in the WS) ....

Although it does say the Cubs Sweep the Series in 5. Wouldn't a sweep be four games? Or is the WS now 9 games long?

I haven't looked up how this compares to past years but I just noticed (yeah, I'm slow) that most of the teams that made the playoffs have long playoff droughts of some kind. Consider this -
Houston Astros - last World Series championship: never; last WS appearance: 2005; last playoff series win: 2005; last playoff game win: 2005; last playoff appearance: 2005
Kansas City Royals - last WS championship: 1985; last WS appearance: 2014; last playoff series win: 2014; last playoff game win: 2014; last playoff appearance: 2014
New York Yankees - last WS championship: 2009; last WS appearance: 2009; last playoff series win: 2012; last playoff game win: 2012; last playoff appearance: 2012
Texas Rangers - last WS championship: never; last WS appearance: 2011; last playoff series win: 2011; last playoff game win: 2011; last playoff appearance: 2012
Toronto Blue Jays - last WS championship: 1993; last WS appearance: 1993; last playoff series win: 1993; last playoff game win: 1993; last playoff appearance: 1993
Chicago Cubs - last WS championship: 1908; last WS appearance: 1945; last playoff series win: 2003; last playoff game win: 2003; last playoff appearance: 2008
Los Angeles Dodgers - last WS championship: 1988; last WS appearance: 1988; last playoff series win: 2013; last playoff game win: 2013; last playoff appearance: 2013
New York Mets - last WS championship: 1986; last WS appearance: 2000; last playoff series win: 2006; last playoff game win - 2006; last playoff appearance - 2006
Pittsburgh Pirates - last WS championship: 1979; last WS appearance: 1979; last playoff series win: 2013; last playoff game win: 2013; last playoff appearance: 2014
Saint Louis Cardinals - last WS championship: 2011; last WS appearance: 2013; last playoff series win: 2014; last playoff game win: 2014; last playoff appearance: 2014

Ranking the teams by the 5 categories given, here's how the teams go from most to least droughts and severity (1 point given for at least a 10 year drought, 2 points given for 11-20 year drought and 3 points given for 21 or more year drought):
Blue Jays - 15
Cubs - 8
Astros - 7
Dodgers - 6
Pirates - 6
Mets - 4
Royals - 3
Rangers - 3
Yankees - 0
Cardinals - 0

I think whatever system that doesn't show the Cubs with the longest drought is a flawed system, dontcha think? That's kind of their thing.

In terms of winning the World Series, yes. But they've been in the playoff more the past 20 years than the Blue Jays. This was quick, so not much thought was put into it. But if you look merely at the numbers of years since the last championship, no one tops the Cubs.

And also number of years since even being IN the WS. If you ask Cubs fans and Jays fans who's had the longest wait for satisfaction, who's the most tortured....

I know this isn't some big deal thing, I just think Cubs are the definition of championship waiting....

Please don't let the facts destroy a good narrative.
A good friend of mine is a Mets fan. A year or so ago I saw an article and asked him who the Mets' second highest paid OF was. I saw he knew, and he looked down and said, "Bobby Bonilla".

I probably didn't put enough wait on the length of championship waiting or even WS appearances beyond 20 years. If I added a point for every 10 years beyond a 20 year period (with the period starting with the first year of play for teams without a championship), the rankings would look more like:

Cubs - 21
Blue Jays - 15
Astros - 14
Pirates - 8
Rangers - 6
Dodgers - 6
Mets - 4
Royals - 3
Cardinals - 0
Yankees - 0

Ever wondered what 300 million dollars sounds like?

THUD!

lmao

Playoffs are so random though. Obviously LA could have easily won it. And obviously we coulda lost at any time in our 3 runs God must be a Giants fan (at least this century)

For sure.....But, with the amount of smack talk I hear from their fans here in SoCal, it is satisfying as f**k to see this happen once again. Lol
