Injuries are starting to pile up... Nothing seems that serious but still worthy of talking about... And don't go all "knee-jerk" over this. These are just the regular bumps & bruises that come with camp. Not many have been seen as anything serious. Tomlin is generous about giving days off, so try not to read too far into anything.

Here's my injury report so far:

PUP (yet to practice)
Pouncey
(Foot sprain)
*Seen running each practice which is good news. Tomlin said he is slated to return tomorrow for day 9.
Gradkowski (Arm fatigue - shoulder?)
*Was supposedly going to miss 2 weeks of practice. Should return after 1st preseason game.
Adams (Back)
*likely to miss all of TC
Golson (Shoulder)
*No timetable, but this injury worries me. Likely headed to IR-Recall.

Vet Players "On Hold"
Harrison

*Tomlin is "protecting James from himself" lol.
Will Allen
*1st practice was today (day 8).

Camp Injuries:
Ventrone
(Ankle sprain)
*no timetable but has been seen walking around in foot cast.
Scheuerman (achilles)
*carted off day 7. Released/waived next day.
Bryant (Elbow infection)
*Requires minor elbow procedure. Expected to miss 10 days.
Mitchell (Hamstring)
*Hasn't practiced since day 5. At first Tomlin said he was giving him the day off, but now its growing concern.
D-Williams (unknown)
*Hasn't practiced since day 6. Doesn't appear to hurt (not wrapped or anything).
Harris (Shoulder)
*Hasn't practiced since day 6.
S. Thomas (shoulder)
*Given day 8 off. Will return.
Shazier (Back)
*Missed day 8. No timetable but doesn't appear serious.
Foster (L shoulder)
*left day 8 of TC with shoulder wrapped
McLendon (R shoulder)
*left day 8 of TC with shoulder wrapped
Wheaton (Hamstring)
*Given day 8 off, but says he's fine. Nothing to worry about.

Probably missing a few... But I update this thing almost daily so it can get tedious to keep it in order.

In case you missed it or didn't read the article I posted from DKonPittSports...

This update was about McCullers and is a must read:
5:50: The heat was back during the team’s afternoon practice. The offense got the better of the defense overall, but defenders had the biggest hits of the afternoon.

One, courtesy of Dan McCullers, stood out the most.

Big Dan was participating in defensive line vs. offensive line pass rushing drills. He got the better of rookie center Reese Dismukes on a play, and Joey Porter — helping with the outside linebackers who were participating — shouted for McCullers and Dismukes to line up again.

They did, and the rookie got the better of a sluggish McCullers. He wasn’t celebrating it, he was playing aggressively, and McCullers, appearing frustrated after getting toppled over, smacked Dismukes across the head.

For a split second, it didn’t appear Dismukes realized what happened, but he grabbed onto McCullers and the least aggressive camp fight ensued for about three seconds. Both competitors looked exhausted, having done battle on two consecutive plays, and the energy wasn’t there to brawl. They were separated, and while returning to their respective sides, Porter screamed, half-hoarse, for them to line up again.

McCullers got a chance to catch his wind, and that was bad news for Dismukes.

McCullers walked the center backward, past the quarterback and through the offensive group standing behind the scrimmage area.

Defensive line coach John Mitchell was immediately on the scene, all but jumping on McCullers, shouting “If I have to slap the (bleep) out of you, I will, but that’s how you gotta practice!”

McCullers sauntered back to his side, Dismukes to his, and neither had another rep.

The intensity stayed with McCullers. Later, in an 11-on-11 scrimmage, McCullers fired off the ball into Al Villanueva, sending the mammoth tackle one gap over from where he started.

When McCullers fires out of his stance and extends his arms, whatever that unfortunate object is, it moves. For the sake of the Steelers’ defensive line, Mitchell may want to start slapping, but only if McCullers isn’t firing like he did on those two plays.

Got a kick out of

"When McCullers fires out of his stance and extends his arms, whatever that unfortunate object is, it moves."

lol

That gave me the chills... Fuckin love it!!!!

Thanks for sharin psych! :suds:

It is absolutely amazing the things he has done. Even you and I being Steeler fans, to watch this is like watching him from day one all over again.... just simply fuckin incredible the way he makes some of the NFL's top linebackers look like complete fools. Where most QB's would of crumbled, Ben makes it look like another day at the office.....

I can honestly say, with all the talent at QB in the NFL, I couldn't see taking any of them over Big Ben!!!!

We've been saying that for years! We couldn't care less about his "elite" status because we've known all along that he's a proven winner, and we wouldn't have any other QB driving the ship than Ben. It's incredible that it has taken almost 10 years of his historic career to FINALLY receive the recognition and respect of the "elite" status. Everyone respected his game, but nobody thought he was top 5 or even top 10 for the most part. Even AFTER winning 2 superbowls... But then he goes all ham in 2014, like we know he's capable of, and finishes 1st in passing yards and people start to take notice. Not to mention the back to back 6 TD games. :L

Ben said it best last week... That he is the type of QB that nobody, aside from Steeler Nation of course, will really truly appreciate until after he retires. Once he retires, fans from around the league will start saying things like, "Wow, he really did all that?"

All the while, we Steeler fans will be sitting in silence shaking our heads in disbelief that people were so blind to it.
