You guys know better than I do that Archer isn't fit for a true NFL RB role. At least not in the traditional sense. He needs to be deployed in situational roles that fit his strengths. That is for Haley to figure out, if he is indeed a top OC as many call him. If I see Archer in there on a passing down then it would more than likely be a quick-slant or dump pass because if they are planning on relying on Archer to pick up a blitzer, then they are going to shoot themselves in the foot. Ideally he is a great stretch run candidate or slot receiver (bubble screens).

Agreed! Not to mention they can inject Archer in the 4-wide... That'll really give D-coordinators the fits!

Coates has beast potential...if he had been at UGA or TN where they passed more I think he would've been a late 1st to no worse than 2nd rd pick...I really hope he develops into that RZ mismatch.

Archer...yep that's a job for Haley, but if I were to put myself in the OC position...#1 you can't telegraph his touches...so imo he needs to be in the game with Bell sometimes...lets say it's 1st down...maybe start him out in a RB position in a 2 rb 2 WR set with a TE...now you can run either guy...Bell off misdirection to the weak side, or Archer trying to get the edge strongside...another play, from the same formation, you motion him out into the slot for a screen, or try to single him on a LB.

The key again is to run plays where you can put him in position to use his speed and be effective...he's not a run between the tackle player. If he's in there with Will Johnson...everybody thinks he's getting the ball...make him a decoy...a creative mind can use this kid I think...but I've heard the calls of him being timid about contact...if that ends up being true...he probably will not make the 53.

Whatever they do, they need a pkg for him...it might take 3 plays for him to actually get a touch, but putting him in for a touch and then out again is telegraphing...if nothing else Haley needs to force DCs to respect his speed on the field.

This is just my opinion, but I think Archer would make a Damn good return man. He has the speed and with his size could avoid a lot of tackles. And if he were devoted to the position of return man, I think he could break Devon Hester's records if he set his mind to it.

True but that's because Todd Haley leaves him to believe he is going to be a running back. And he needs to be told at this day and age there is no way in he'll that is ever going to happen. So maybe once he gets that delusion out of his head he can set his sights on something more attainable for him.

Could be true. But it doesn't matter what he's doing on the field, if he's going to continue to be timid and not use his full speed, then he'll never make any impact. That was the main reason why he was the league's worst avg. return yds. Hesitation & timidness.

Agreed. But as long as Haley feeds him the bullshit that he will be a running back this kid is screwed. He had a better chance of open field on a return, because he is not big enough to blow through a hole on the line..... idk, but as long as Haley feeds this kid false hope, he's fucked.
