It is early, but we can have this discussion over the next 6 weeks.

What Giants will/should make the team?

Locks
--------
Posey

Strong Cases
---------------
Crawford
Bumgarner
Lincecum(!!!)
Casilla

Solid season, likely short
----------------------------
Panik
Pagan
Belt

I think Bum is also a realistic lock, but his numbers are not mind-blowing at this point in the season, so an argument can be made that he doesn't "deserve" it (by jackasses, at least). With Boch filling out the squad, though, I think there is a solid chance we get all 5 on the team.

Without looking, there may be enough pitchers with better numbers than Bum. But as long as he doesn't collapse, he gets in on reputation.

To those who would argue against Bum, I say 1 earned run in 40 World Series innings. Shut up. End of discussion.

2 1/2 weeks later, where do we stand?

Hitters

Posey = no brainer
Crawford, Panik = strong candidates
Aoki, Belt, Pagan = long shots

Pitchers

Bumgarner = no brainer
Casilla = long shot

If I were Bochy, I'd ask MadBum if he'd rather go to the AS game or have 3 days off. Tell him he's earned it, but it's his choice.

Craw should not be a lock.

Casilla hasn't outperformed

Trevor Rosenthal: 19 saves, 1.00 WHIP, 0.64 ERA
Drew Storen: 18 saves, 0.81 WHIP, 1.16 ERA
Jeurys Familia: 17 saves, 0.80 WHIP, 1.30 ERA

Frankly, I'd put A.J. Ramos in over Casilla

I actually think there is a decent chance Craw gets voted in. His offensive numbers are very close to Perralta's and his defense is at the top as well. Giants fans have not done a ballot drive since '12, but I suspect there may be a push this year. The numbers already show that from last week.

You are expecting that most voters use logic, which is incorrect sadly :(

As you mentioned, the ballot drive rules all. Royals are going all out this year and have 7/9 starters leading right now with Omar Infante and Alex Rios closing in on Jose Altuve and Mike Trout

Note..Last 30 days Craw is 2nd in the NL hitting at SS with a .323 clip.

Would you of believed before the year that as of today Craw has 38 RBI's to Tulo's 32 and Craw would be out homering Tulo 8-7.

Craw is a All -Star.

I agree with your outcome, but your path is erred. Why are you making Tulo the bar? Tulo is, quite possibly, the most over-rated player in the NL.

Compare him to Perralta in St Louis if you want to look at top SS. And I think Craw compares very well to Perralta.

Tulo is a great ..great player.

He came in for a tryout for our travel team back when he was entering high school. I was the coach evaluating him on ground balls. He scored sky high on my chart. His arm was the best I have ever seen. His pitching skills were the best . His hitting was off the charts. The best player I ever seen or evaluated. He decided to go a different way..he loves basketball. Trust me Tulo is the real deal. I laugh when people say he is overrated. Yes his injury problems have dragged him down but talent wise ..off the charts great and you can take that to the bank.

Hunter Pence (Aoki, Pagan too) ahead of Joc on the AS ballot.

I dream that one day teams/fans will stop stuffing the ballot box with their own players. An AS game with players who deserve to be there would be nice

The NL ballot is actually not that bad.

Posey is essentially tied for 1st at catcher, but should be running away with it.

Goldy and AGon are appropriately 1/2 at 1B.

Gordon/Wong/Panik are appropriately 1/2/3 at 2B.

Perralta and Craw are appropriately 1/2 at SS.

IMHO, at 3B Frazier should be 1 with Carpenter 2, but having Carpenter at 1 is not horrible. He should not be running away with it, though.

OF is admittedly a joke. IMHO, it should be Harper, Joc and Upton, but Joc and Upton are no where to be found. How Holliday is even in the discussion is rather disgusting. McCutchen and Stanton both deserve billing over him.

Right now, I think this is how the Giants look...

Lock
------
Posey - no-brainer
Crawford - He SHOULD be starting, but he will have to settle for a reserve-gig
Bum - unless he and Bochy decide he is better served with the rest

Contenders
-------
Panik - he SHOULD make it, but will likely be a roster casualty
Aoki - he was putting up a good case for a legit reserve-spot, but his injury will likely kill his chances

No Longer in Contention
--------
Pagan
Belt
Casilla
Timmeh

As far as I'm concerned, trying my hardest to put my orange colored glasses away, the locks to be on the team should be Posey, Craw, Panik, Aoki, and Madbum. Each of them Bochy could make a case for and have plenty of leg to stand.

Given the expanded roster (28 players) for the game, and given the fact that winning the game has series (ha) implications, I respectfully submit the name of:

Javier Lopez

Folks would howl, but if you want to win the game, Bochy should seriesly (ha) consider super-loogy.
