Maybe so, but it's only recently that the game actually means something. There is now reason to have a specialty player like JLo. I would want to see the odds before I bet against it.

Your idea is very logical and reasonable and hence has zero chance of happening. That's why the ASG 'counts' in the first place, because MLB and its traditions are often pretty damn stupid.

Not bad. The only somewhat surprise is that Aoki did not get named. It would have been a free-be since he is hurt and would have immediately been replaced.

Congrats to Bum, Joey P. and Craw for making the NL All Star team. Very much earned. 4 Giants in now including Posey as a starter...these are the glory years.

I think Bum is also a realistic lock, but his numbers are not mind-blowing at this point in the season, so an argument can be made that he doesn't "deserve" it (by jackasses, at least). With Boch filling out the squad, though, I think there is a solid chance we get all 5 on the team.

Yeah Boch selected Panik. I saw it on TV. When I find a list of who selected who, I'll let you know. Boch also picked A.J. Burnett for his first ever All-Star game. He is know to reward those guys (Vogelsong).

The argument could be made that Panik is MORE deserving of the ASG than craw this year.
