my mock draft 1-10:

1. Edm - McDavid
2. Buf - Eichel
3. Col - Provorov (trade with Coyotes, RoR involved)
4. Tor - Hanifin
5. Car - Marner
6. NJ - Zacha
7. Phi - Strome
8. CBJ - Werenski
9. SJ - Barzal
10. Pho - Connor (trade with Col)

Oooh I like that! It makes so much sense for Colorado too

It will definitely be interesting..im sure they'll go forward with the first pick. How about Vinny Grossman 7th to Phoenix for 3? Hexy would get a Nobel for that!

If the Flyers do move up to 3, I expect Vinny and/or Pronger will be involved in the deal. In Pronger's case, they get 5 mil on the cap for 525k in real dollars. Similar situation for Vinny, I think 3 mil in salary for 4.5 mil in cap. Phoenix is 18.6 mil under the floor and it a tight spot financially. On the surface, they'd make a great trade partner with the Flyers.

The thing is, would Vinny want to go to Arizona? That's why this is more tricky than people think - yes he knows it's not a good fit with the Flyers but I don't think he's just going to accept a deal anywhere

If we can get to #3 to take Marner then tomorrow will be a good day. I'm getting sick of the mindless speculation though, let's get some real rumors and action.

I actually think he takes a trade to anywhere. He just wants to play.

As much as I agree with taking the best player available in the first round of this draft regardless of position and need, I would love to see us get that second line center to provide the scoring punch we need behind Giroux and Voracek.

Are any of us yet convinced that Couturier can be that guy? We're sort of stuck with two third line shutdown centers and nobody to fill the scoring void on the second line long term.

I don't think there would be an issue as far as reaching for a pick at 7 to get someone of positional need but the Flyers can NOT think that way

If one of those d-men are there at 7, they would be wise to take him

This is the ultimate gamble. There's a good chance Peovorov is there at 7, but do you really want to risk losing out on your guy?

I think Provorov will be there at 7 and if he's not, then Marner, Zacha or someone we covet will be. We really can't lose here.

Moving up to #3 to take Provorov over Hanifin and Marner is just asking screaming to haunt us for years. Not knocking Provorov, I really want him, but I suspect there is a reason why Marner and Hanifin are generally both rated above Provorov. Reaching for a player at #3 could be ugly in 5 years.

Carolina is the ideal trade up partner.

I wouldn't move up for Provorov. You're paying a huge amount to guarantee getting a guy that you can likely have at 7 anyway. A lot of the teams ahead of us want the playmaking centers that are on the board early.

Well that is the risk. Do they want the playmaking centers?

Every team in the league looks at the Stanley Cup Final and sees homegrown defensemen like Keith and Hedman lock it down for 30 minutes a game. The draft is, with rare exceptions, the only place you get #1 defensemen. It is as easy as one of Toronto, Carolina, or New Jersey falling in love with Provorov for them to "reach" for him.

I just don't like the idea of moving up for a d-man right now. Yes they're important, and you don't know how the 4 you have will pan out, but there is such a dearth of offense and offensive prospects that I don't think you can give up assets to acquire something other than a forward.

By my estimations, the Flyers have 1 forward in the prospect pool that might be a steady top 6 player for the team (Aube-Kubel). And currently it's Giroux and Voracek providing the offense. So a total of 3 true top 6 players if Aube-Kubel pans out. At some point you need to supplement them. You're in a good spot at 7 to do that. Heck even at 29 you're in an OK spot to do that. Giving up 7 and 29 (presumably) to take another dman eliminates both of those.

(I love Simmonds, but at 5 on 5 I think he's best suited for a high octane 3rd line with guys like White and Laughton maybe. Then you have your 4th line be a 'shutdown' type line)

I can only imagine how stressful and difficult it is to draw the lines in these draft war rooms. Sure you might lean slightly in favor of a forward since we are desperate for one, but where do you draw the line and say "No, this defensemen is too good to pass up." #1 defenseman vs a 60 point center? 70 points? 80? Not to mention that is under the assumption you're scouting is 100% accurate with its projections.

Another thing to consider is that while top end defensemen are rare and difficult to find, they can be found literally anywhere in the draft. On the other hand top end forwards are easy to find yet are only found at the high end of the draft. Is this the highest we'll be picking during our rebuild? Will this be our only shot at a top end guy like Barzal or Zacha?

I hope that Hextall does not move up simply because we don't have the luxury to piss away talent. We pretty much are guaranteed an impact player at 7. Honestly, I do believe Provorov will be there at 7. If he is not, one of the solid forwards will be. It's a win..win.. really. I still think that Hextall will try to grab another 1st rounder somewhere and trade Streit. Anyway, I'm with some of you here, let's get this draft over with because it's hurting my head thinking about the "what ifs."

It's pointless to be stressed right now - the Flyers would have to really go outside the box to fuck this draft up

With 10 picks and it all starting with the seventh overall pick, they're going to come out of this draft in a really good spot

of all the teams to go really outside the box, the Flyers have got to be the most likely.
