2015 Draft

I like DeBrusk with the second pick if he's available. Some of his scouting reports make him sound like he'd be an awesome fit with Jake and G (granted, that's a few years down the road regardless, who knows where we are then).

I like Svechnikov there too if he's available. I think he goes higher than that though.

yo... Rantanen at 6 is a stretch I think. Though it makes me feel kinda good about my Crouse projection for Carolina a few posts ago. Similar mold.

Rantanen is another guy like Crouse that I'd be fine with but isn't one of my favorites.

Assuming Buffalo wins the lottery I think we have a good chance at Marner. Just have to hope Carolina and New Jersey fall in love with Crouse, Rantanen, Barzal, Werenski, and Provorov.

I would make a strong push to trade up in to Carolina's spot. Now that they don't have the Kings pick (lottery protected), #7 and #26ish looks a lot more attractive. They need talent in their system. They're bad and they don't have a ton of hope hanging out in pre-NHL hockey.

At #5 you're pretty much guaranteed Marner or Strome I think.

If they do stay put though, I'm hoping for Barzal.

I am not sold on trying to move up if it costs the 2nd #1. I know it won't be a great pick but it could prove to be a valuable player. That said, if there is a way to move into the top 5 AND keep the 2nd 1st then I would do it.

From what I remember of the behind the scenes draft video, Bergevin told Homer the Habs wanted Morin. I guess you have to show you cards sometimes in order to let a team know you aren't going after their guy. Too bad the Habs' guy was our guys.

Getting into the top 5 would be awesome. I have no idea what Carolina is doing and in what direction they are planning, so maybe we could target their pick. Still think the best bet is if the Oilers get bumped to #4, though

Otherwise, we don't want Carolina/NJ or anyone below us to win it. If one of the top four wins the lottery, we can certainly live with that.

I think I am more concerned with undesirable teams like NJ, LA, Toronto, Boston winning it than I am about us winning.

IF the Devils, Leafs or the Kings win...I will be throwing things.
I really don't expect the Flyers to win the lottery, but it would be nice. Looking at the odds they are more likely to move down one. If that happens I hope Hexy is on the phone trying to move that pick back up.

Wont make my wish list for the draft until after tonight, but it will be interesting to see between the conditional Timmo pick and the pick for Coburn how and where the Flyers end up picking in the first 3 rounds. The word is that the top 100-150 in this draft are the best in years. We all know that maybe 10 of those are complete busts and 10 come out of no where to rate higher..but having multiple picks in this draft is very exciting.

Yes, it's an ideal situation for us really. McDavid goes west and to a team that won't ever play meaningful games against us.

We don't drop, (barring trade down) and we could still move up...we do have a 2nd 1st round pick that we could move in a package....

I am more irked by the presentation and Edmonton winning than I am by the Flyers no getting the #1.
#7 in this draft is a good pick. The depth in this draft is great. It really is what do the Flyers go after and who do they rank.
