Is there enough strength in this Schedule to be considered for the playoffs with 1 loss?

Depends where the loss is and by how much.

Do they win the CCG?

Ok just for the sake ofargument we lose to a 1 loss Wisconsin team who is ranked 19. We then win the ccg over OSU who is ranked 5

I'd say NU has a good chance at the play-off as Big 10 champs, so yes.

drop 1 to Wiscy and take out a top 5 OSU team? There's no way we wouldn't be in.

Ok Im showing my ignorance with the playoff format but where do the ap and coaches poll figure in and how heavily does a playoff spot depend on the polls

We aint goin through that schedule with only 1 loss in my opinion.

The road games are all potential losses.

Both Fresno and Miami scare me already. Not because they will be amazingly difficult, but because they will be "big" games.......and we don't like to win those ones

It's all done by Committee like the BB tournament. The polls are considered, but not part of a mathematical formula like the current BCS.

Conference champs will pull a lot of weight.

thank you, also I agree with JJM as far as prolly wont have only one loss.Couple this with Wisconsins really light schedule and we may not win our side of the conference.

That being said I am really excited with our returning defense and some of the commits. If the secondary can step up we may be scary good on defense.

I expect more of the same.

A defense that gets pushed around up front and doesn't know it's assignments (doesn't execute, if you will) until mid-season.

I think we will do quite well up front on Defense.

My concern is on Offense. We will again have to ride Abdullah until both of his ankles break.

I think that the biggest problem this past season with the defense was lack of communication on the field. I doubt we regress especially with the on field leadership we ve seen lately.

If Bo sticks with his same scheme and staff, it will be more of the same IMO. There's 6 years of data to support that. Experience hasn't made a difference previously. There was confusion when it was chock full of 4 and 5 year guys at all 3 levels.

Woah, hold on there buddy. We gotta win more than 9 games first.:suds:

I'm just playing along with his scenario.

i.e. "Would a one loss Big 10 champ make the play-offs."

Wisky is in our division next year. If we lose to a one loss Wisky with no other losses then Wisky takes the head to head and goes to the CCG.

No CCG no playoff imo.
