Watch out for Boston. Ainge is looking to move Rondo, Bass, Humphries, and just about anyone except Olynyk, Sullinger, Pressy and a couple others. Chances are that he make his moves this weekend except Rondo....he'll save that for the 20th at 4:00 PM EST.

As far as the Lakers getting Earvin Johnson.....the only reason that you got him was that the NBA passed the Larry Bird Rule and penalized Red Auerbach for signing Bird before he graduated. If the league hadn't, Red was ready to draft Johnson because the Celtics had the first pick. Can you imagine Magic and Bird on the same team?

Boston is doing the right things for a rebuild. I think they'll be back up top in the East in 3 years or so. I don't think trading Rondo is a good move though. He's still only 27 and almost guaranteed to give you a double/double every night when healthy.

But hey, i'd trade Pau for him right now!

Ah yes, the salad days of Elmore "The Rejector" Smith and Zelmo Beatty!!

Yep TJF12. You remember Elmore Smith and Beatty? Smith was pretty dominant in his own right defensively. On the offensive side of the ball, he wasn't in the same class as Abdul Jabbar but I liked his defense!!

Beatty, when he got older, was just a constant liability and we had several players like him on those teams.

Yep, I was fairly young (11 or 12), but old enough that I was already a die-hard Lakers fan and remember that team. Elmore Smith was actually one of my favorite players at that time.

question is going to be when kobe and pau are healthy they are capable of beating a lot of teams...outside of the championship caliber...heat, clippers, pacers, warriors etc. unless kobe has a setback he will most likely be back in early march. I can see a scenario where they end up more with the 10th pick.

looking ahead to free agency looks a bit scary. should the lakers strike out with LeBron and melo. pretty good chance of that happening then pickings are slim for the next 2 years...yeah maybe they get kevin love....im not sold on him being a game changer...hes a good shooter. missing on this draft pick could have lasting consequences

Quick update on the lottery percentages after last nights win against the Celtics:

Milwaukee - 25.0%
Philly - 19.9%
Orlando - 15.6%
Sacramento - 11.9%
Boston - 8.8%
LA Lakers - 6.3%
Utah - 4.3%

Glad we beat those dirty little Celtics though! Always nice to have a season sweep against them no matter what our goals are!

Not sure if anyone has looked ahead at the Lakers remaining schedule, but it is brutal. I don't see them winning more than 6 games the rest of the way. Most of their remaining games are against +.500 teams. With a couple new players and more coming back from injuries, the lineups will continue to be in flux. The Lakers are going to end up with a top 3 pick.

Looks like D'antoni going more for the low post options. Kaman, Pau getting lots of back to the basket looks. Could he see this as the end and would actually want to win a few games on his way out? that said, our lotto position should be safe. His run-run style when he's using it will always result in his players turning the ball over, and his soft zone defense will always result in our teams getting second chances.

The huge Points in the paint discrepancy was and always will be a Mike D'antoni MO.

That's the plan! With a bit of luck Kobe stays out till next year too.

Kobe's latest diagnosis is at least 3-4 more weeks. Nash. I don't think anyone knows. They may just tell Kobe to park for the rest of the way. We shall see.

Only just noticed Marshall is under contract for next year too. Includes a no-trade clause. He's pretty much got free reign to develop his game in real-game situations.

A Kobe-trained Exum is hard to pass up.
