Good to have him back. He's not a world beater by any means, but he gives us solid at bats and is a good bench asset.

I nearly had an aneurysm last night with our bench options, so this is welcomed. Hurdle just...GAHHHH. Inge? INGE?

It's hard not to believe in what you guys are accomplishing. It's exciting when it all starts coming together, isn't it?

Thanks man, I have always been at best a casual Pirates fan, I go to a couple games a year, but it's always been more about the outing not really about the Pirates. Past couple years were nice, although the Pirates had meltdowns, it was a lot better than the previous 20 years. This year is just unbelievable, it they make the playoffs I really hope they make a movie about this team because I never would've ever imagined our Pirates to have the best record in baseball at this juncture of the season. Still pinching myself to make sure this is real. Good luck to your Padres BTW, you guys deserve something to cheer for as well :suds:

Would love to see a trade for a ss that could be plugged into the one or two hole. With only 6 teams in the NL above .500 and 8 in the AL, there should be a good amount of sellers this month. The big names that might be available are Rollins, Castro and possibly Zobrist. Rollins is signed in 2014 with an option in 2015 and Zobrist has team options in 2014 and 2015. Castro is in the first year of a 7 yr/$60M contract. Here is what the teams above .500 have at shortstop:
Red Sox-Drew (maybe upgrade)
Yankees-Jeter
Orioles-Hardy
D-Rays-Escobar
Tigers-Peralta
Indians-Cabrera
Athletics-Lowrie
Rangers-Andrus
Braves-Simmons
Nationals-Desmond
Cardinals-Kozma/Furcal (maybe upgrade)
Reds-Cozart
Diamondbacks-Gregorious

It doesn't look like there will be a lot of competition to target a shortstop in a trade. The problem is that there are not a lot of quality ss that will be available, if any. The only sure bet to be available is Rollins, and that could change if the Phillies get hot and want to give it another shot with their team intact.

If Mercer keeps is OBP up I have no issue with him staying at SS the rest of the way with Barmes on the bench.

It looks like they need an upgrade on the bench over Snider, Inge and is overlooked by many but this season he is not that good is McKenry.

I think you're being nice to McKenry, there.

He's brutal.

bring up lambo, dejesus, and sanchez.
dump snider, inge, and mcK. (snider to AAA, the others can go wherever they are needed)
if you want to take presley or harrison for barmes, i could jettison barmes pretty easily as well.

see what our AAA guys can do. get their feet wet and acclimated for 2014 like locke and wilson did last year. they might help this year and certainly wont be worse than barmes, mcK, inge.

Looks like it will be Liriano, Burnett, Locke, Morton and Cole for the rotation order coming out of the break.
