Reid is not a difference maker at safety. You don't trade up for that. Absolutely horrific approach in trying to address our current crisis at the safety position

I really didn't want them to move up for a safety. Any safety. I agree that it seems to an extent like we're letting need dictate our choices.

You guys don't like this trade?

The 74th pick isn't exactly a king's ransom.

Players that we've traded up for...
Anthony Davis and Navorro Bowman (We did trade UP and not down for Bowman right?)

I think Baalke knows what he's doing

Yea I'm with you on this one...gotta trust the guys that are doing the homework.

Justin Pugh is a Tom Coughlin type of player. Coughlin doesn't dive in head first to the draft or is real vocal with each pick before it's made, but that screams Tom Coughlin minded to me.

Weird pick for the Giants.

Cyprien (sp?), Patterson and Lacy all on board for the Rams.

The Bengals and the Rams both need safeties, I guess they felt they needed to do it.

I dont like the trade because its Arguable but I like Swearinger a bit better than Reid and to me Cyprien and Reid are tied for second best safety in draft. And yes I have a man Crush on Swearinger cause he can cover a little but he hits like , Lott, Lynch and Attwater.

49ers have reportedly been linked to Reid since October. Yeah, October. I'd have been fine and quite happy with Cyprien, too. Or Swearinger or Elam. Dang. Baalke and company continually get aggressive, maybe too aggressive I'd say, in moving around the draft to nail somebody they want.

Agreed. My biggest complaint of Baalke is that he doesn't do a great job of sitting tight and taking what comes to him. Hard to complain too much with the results to date, AJ Jenkins aside, but I just don't love the move up for that position. A high third isn't all that much relatively speaking, but it's still a guy who should be a starter.

The 31 and 74 (first of the 2 3rds they had)

mahalo! seems like a reasonable trade before factoring in the player chosen.

most don't like the Reid pick based on consensus mocks, but NFL teams don't go by mocks. if you believe in a prospect, go get him. if you wait too long and be cute iwth value, you lose him.

I would've rather went Elam, but I can live with this pick. What did we give up, just a 74?

That was the 4th time Jerry Jones has traded with the 49ers in the draft.
