Time to get ready for the Rangers coming to town for a four game set starting tomorrow.

The Twins have done well against them in the past. Hope they can continue that trend.

The good news- Yu Darvish is pitching today so we won't see him this series. :)

You were right buck, the fishies took the night game.

All I can say is, Pelfrey is a hack! lol

Yup, the proper bet was to go against Pelfrey, no matter who he faces right now. Addicted sports-bettors love to "follow trends". Bet a hot team no matter what until they get beat, same thing with a pitcher. Now the strategy is to keep betting Pelfrey to lose until he wins.

Never bet something thinking the team can't lose, or win another one, and especially don't keep doubling-up. That always blows up big in your face unless you can avoid your bookie, or he's in jail. In Vegas the bet is made up-front only.

Regardless, Pelfrey hasn't looked good ever, not even in ST.

Sounds like you know a thing or two about betting on sports. Maybe you should visit the SportsHoopla Bookie and put some of your vCash down on some games. You have 500 right now since that's what everyone starts with. I have placed a few bets myself and it's pretty fun but just that. It's just for fun with play money (vCash).

They post a handful of games to bet on everyday. You just pop in and throw down what you want on your pic and that's it. Not too time consuming. Either way it's there if you ever feel so inclined. I've done ok with it. Brought my vCash up to 1900 so far.

Here come the Rangers. Time for Vanimal to give it another go. He had some rough ones but that last start by him was pretty darn good. Of course the Rangers aren't the White Sox though.

Don't know much about this Tepesch that is starting for Texas. I assume he was brought in to cover for Colby Lewis who may be ok for the Twins to miss as well. By looking at other starts by Tepesch, he doesn't look like he has exactly dominated. Seems like he should be hittable for the Twins bats if they can get em swinging. That's the trick though right?

Exactly, PC! As they say in the clubhouse, "Just "heet" thee Baaallll, amigo!" The league era averages right around 4.00 these days so you gotta score at least that many just to be in the average game. The Twins have guys who certainly can hit, we just need them to be consistent, not streaky.

A one run jack from the Hammer is all we get? :lame:

Joe Nathan looked right at home to shut it down last night. :2cents:

That performance last nite was terrible. Worley pitches his heart out and only Willy can plate a run for him. This is precisely my problem with Baby J., he's paid to come through in tight ones and I just don't see him doing it. Good guy, great singles hitter but not a clutch player anywhere near what Kirby was, or even Herbie, who was often slump-prone. He's got to get it going, and fast!!

In the long-run, it's just a loss, but it was very painful and so, so, avoidable.

Winning has to be a team effort. Sideburns can't always do it on his own.

I'm with you on that, PC. However, I see it like this: history would be much different if heroes didn't inspire others by refusing to fail. The Twins wouldn't have won the '91 WS if Jack Morris hadn't told Tom Kelly to "beat it!" Who would watch Olympic Hockey if the USA hadn't beaten the Russians and then the Finns to win the Gold Medal?

I'm not like other guys who personally insult athletes. I marvel at the skill these guys were given and how they avoided the temptations and pit-falls that trip up the vast majority of young athletes. I judge athletes on their performance, their "numbers", but I also know that statistics are not the only way to judge performance. "Pitter-patter" hitters are important but, it's the guys who drive them in that really matter, especially if they can do it during close games. Reggie Jackson did it. Same goes with pitchers who win the big-games all the time. These kinds of athletes are a cut above the rest. We know them when we see them. I do not see Joe as one of these guys. He does not inspire his team, at least not yet.

I see Joe as soft and coddled and with lacking an athlete's "heart." To even talk of him failing is sacrilegious among tons of Twins fans. I just cannot worship this guy. He's got to deliver in the clutch to get my vote. Maybe he will! As a Twins fan I sure hope so. Insult him?? Never...I don't roll that way....never have....never will. I leave that to other guys. As do you, good friend!

I know Mauer doesn't seem to have that leader attitude that has seemed to be missing in the Twins clubhouse since like forever but at least he grinds em out on the field. There needs to be that guy in every game that steps up and makes something happen. Could be a different guy every night. That is what a winning team is made of. When the hitters around guys like Mauer, Morny and Willy are not producing that spells disaster for the team as a whole. But that's just my thinking on the dealy-o. :)

I dunno....that's why I'm not the GM. If I were, that would be the biggest NO Bueno in Twins history. I do know that someone has to step up on this team, though. If not, the lackluster seasons will continue. For me, it's Joe. He's paid like a superstar, like Cabrera in Detroit. What a difference in their performance!

It sure won't be Morny, and he will be gone next year anyways, for the very reasons I keep harping on. Willy did it very nicely last year, in fact he was awesome! Can he do it again? We'll see soon enough, but, he's not getting paid like a superstar. He's getting "Cuddy-pay" and he's living up to that standard. Parmalee, Plouffe, Doumit are all good players but severely limited in some areas. They "are what they are" and they get paid accordingly. These players need that leader I keep talking about. Someone to raise their level of confidence and killer-instinct. It sure ain't Joe. What a shame.

Twins win! :yahoo:

Nice bomb for Morny today.

Those Twins continue to astound me! They looked so bad in ST, especially the pitchers, but now everyone has turned it around. I was out of town for the weekend to see the Marlins play and I didn't see Twins on any TV's. That town is bad for my health!

Hey fellas,
A split with a very good Rangers team, I'll take that right now!
Correia continues to pitch well, with the gem that he threw yesterday.

Now its time for Pelfrey to step it up against the red hot Tigers tonight who just swept the Braves out of town.
Go Get 'Em Boys!

I was thinking a split with the Rangers ain't bad as well. Correia has been awesome so far.

Pelf, I'm not so confident in. I wonder if he makes it two innings tonight against the Tigers bats.
