Yes.. player C by far had the biggest contribution.. are you serious? First of all.. you do realize that teams shift defense and change the way they pitch when a man is in scoring position right? Have you ever played baseball or are you just a stat nerd? Because trust me.. outside of little league and even with good little league teams.. its much harder to get a hit with a runner on second or third... and if you think getting a sac fly is not hard when a pitcher is doing everything he can to stop it.. once again.. you are wrong.. get away from the nerd stats for two seconds and go on a field.. the rbi is by far the best stat to show contributions of scoring runners.. without the rbi hit or sacrifice.. moving the runner up is meaningless.. but with a hit.. a runner can score from first with out it..

LOL.. rbi is not the best way to show contributions to scoring runs... clown statement bro.

2013 MLB splits:
Runner on 1st - .263 AVG, .728 OPS
Runner on 2nd & 3rd - .263 AVG, .774 OPS
Runner on 3rd - .270 AVG, .768 OPS

If it's so much harder to hit with runners on 3rd, why is the league average and OPS higher in those situations?

Got an excuse for that?

I love when people resort to the "have you ever played the game" crap....yes, I played 2 years of college ball, but that's irrelevant. You really think the likes of Kruk and Mitch Williams are 'smart' about the game because they played it? Or better yet, Hall of Famer Joe Morgan...you ever hear the nonsensical things he says? But...but...but...he played the game right?

Please, do tell us that guys like Kruk and Williams both know more about the game than every single person who never made it past little league ball.

But...but...but...Kruk and Williams played the game!

Mitch Williams?

Who cares about Kruk.. I want to talk about your theory that rbi's are not the best way to judge a players cotnributions in scoring runs... I want more info from you on this.. it interests me to understand your theory.

Hey, I'm not the one implying he knows what he's talking about just because he played the game at a higher level than you or I or the next guy.

Please tell me more about how the guy that throws down the nasty sac bunt is just as important as the guy hitting the ground ruled double to score the man from second.. or the guy that hits the hr to score him from anywhere on base. I want to know how a guy that moves up the runner... while getting an out.. can be just a valuable as the guy that scores a runner while getting an out... Did you know.. that miggy cabrera rarely sac bunts to move a runner up... why is that? if it has the same value.. why doesn't leyland have miggy sac bunt a runner over so prince can sac fly him in?

Do sac flies count as an at bat? if a batter hits a sac fly his stat line would not add an at bat.. thus not making his average go down for producing an out.. thus.. a runner on third the average is higher.. clown... my god.

Yep. Mitch Williams. That guy is a fucking idiot. He watches baseball on camera, that has to be about it. (He evidently also falls asleep outside). He tried to tell me earlier this year that Bruce Rondon and Al Albuerquerque's problem was that they throw too many pitches for strikes. I don't know about you, but when their collective walk rates were about 11 per 9,(idk what they are now) I had think he was missing something.(watching them walk batter after batter was what he was missing) Loved that slide step of his back in the day though.

Let's do this slowly for you...

If the major league on the whole hits better when a runner's on 3rd than at 1st, how is it harder to hit with a runner on 3rd?

This has nothing to do with sac bunts or any other of your irrelevant comments trying to indirectly deflect my question. If something is harder to do, the percentages should be lower for that action, is it not?

For a guy that played two years of college ball..you sure don't know much.. ahhaahahahaah

sac flies don't add an at bat guy.. a player that goes to bat 4 times but gets a hit, a sac fly, and two ground outs would have the stat line of 1 for 3.. Please tell me I didnt just teach you that... and please tell me you failed math and that is why you didn't understand why having a runner on third would increase the batting average... as opposed to having a runner on other bases where a run cant be scored on a fly out

I really don't know what MLB Network is thinking with him....I guess he's got incriminating photos of one of the producers there.

But hey, MiamiVice seems to think that he knows a lot of the game because he played at a high level. Whatever floats his boat.

I'd say he does have an excuse for that.(again, funny stuff the lengths people will go to for this kid) Harper has 5 sacrifices by the way. He has 6 steals and has been caught 4 times.

1 for 3 is .333 .... 1 for 4 is .250... thus if an at bat is taken away... the average is higher... haahhahahahaah this guy doesn't get it ahahaahahahahahaah

No sh1t, Sherlock...that's why I also added OPS, where the differences are significant between the scenarios. You don't really believe hitting better is just batting average and not incorporating OPS now?

If you want to see the true batting average for a runner at third for the mlb this season.. find out how many at bats were taken away because of sac flies

You are the one that wants to know why the batting average is higher when a player is at third... I told you.. that is also why the ops is lower.... clown.

I can't stand Orel or Schilling, but they atleast thought about what they were doing on the hill. (Obviously)Every night that Williams babbles on I find it harder to believe his effectively wild act worked as long as it did for an inning at a time. Sean Casey will also talk base running on MLB, which really cracks me up. But no matter how much I chuckle, I still stand firm that Bryce hasn't been all he's cracked up to be. (Could be, might be....isn't yet)

What? A sac fly negatively affects OBP, as the player gets the plate appearance but doesn't get on base.

So sac fly's still don't fully explain why the OPS is higher with runners at 3rd.

I'm in the minority on that one, I like Joe Buck. A lot more with Aikman than McCarver, but, well....
