Harper has been in the leadoff spot 12 games this year. A little less than the 59 games he's hit third. Nice try boys. (Im sure youll come up with more excuses for his poor production. Caffeine free?) And thanks for explaining why leadoff hitters have less RBI than cleanup guys. I'd always wondered why that was. (Still wondering why on earth someone would bother to try and say Harper isn't overrated, as he CLEARLY is). Your efforts are very cute indeed.

A hitter can be great with RISP and still have a low RBI count if he doesn't get enough opportunities to hit with RISP. And conversely a hitter can have a high RBI total without performing well with RISP, but getting tons of opportunities.

But I wouldn't expect you to understand that. RBI don't translate directly to wins, but I wouldn't expect you to understand that either. RBI is a team statistic that is awarded to individuals. There are measures that far better indicate how a player contributes to runs scored.

He's not overrated because no one really makes a big deal about him these days. That can change, but for right now, he's really not getting enough positive publicity to say he's overrated. The only real news he made in the past month was when the Braves hit him for no reason.

You're a special kind of asshole, ill give you that. Takes real honest arrogance to lay out some of the bs you've laid out the last few days when it comes to your defense of Bryce. But I will admit, I prefer your hypocritical condescending ramblings to the stat regurgitation I'm used to seeing. Ill take flawed, biased, non sensical opinions over stats any day.

There is a stat that better shows a players contribution to runs scored than RBI? Does he know that RBI stands for runs batted in?

Usually when he acts like an asshole to someone, it's because they deserve it. You're not an exception to that. Stop being so stubborn. Christ.

There is a stat that better shows a players contribution to runs scored than RBI? Does he know that RBI stands for runs batted in?

Here's a basic example...

Player A singles
Player B doubles, moving player A to 3rd
Player C gets a sac fly, scoring player A

Was player B's contribution in that sequence not significant to that run scoring? He didn't get an RBI or run, but he certainly had a major impact in that run, correct?

Also, did player C have the biggest contribution to that run scoring because he got the RBI?

I'm right. So what exactly do you want me to say? Harpers not overrated? Fuck that bro! Ill let him keep being a condescending prick, making dickheadish personal remarks, so long as he wants to keep having misguided excuses for the chosen one not living up to the billing, ill keep reminding him, you and any other poster that Bryce Harper is, in fact, overrated. (Ill also thumb out a run on sentance). Defense of Bryce Harper and Arther at the same time, that's good work.

I was referencing 2011, when he ended the season on the DL, in the minor leagues. I don't know when he was called up last year.

Come on dude, nobody cares about what happened in the minors when someone's already performed at a major league level for a good amount of time.

I mean, do you really care that Miguel Cabrera hit .286 in the minors, or is it irrelevant to his current ability?

If Miguel Cabrera was hitting .260 with 40 RBI and had missed significant time on the DL this season, yeah, I'd care that his 2011 season ended on the DL. He (BH) has the makings of some injury concerns. Not to mention some disappointing numbers thru 800+ career abs. Or his knocks this season with a regression in stolen bases, a .190 BA with 2 outs and RISP, .184 BA in LIP, .091 with runners on in LIP, a gets this .000 BA with the bases juiced. He does have a sac fly and walk, good for 5% of his RBI on the season. Hitting .309 when he's at the top of Daveys lineup, too bad that spot is why he doesn't drive anyone in. Oh Harper lovers, please keep telling me why he's not overrated. I love the one where you tell me it's because nobody hypes him anymore. That ones my favorite.

Yes.. player C by far had the biggest contribution.. are you serious? First of all.. you do realize that teams shift defense and change the way they pitch when a man is in scoring position right? Have you ever played baseball or are you just a stat nerd? Because trust me.. outside of little league and even with good little league teams.. its much harder to get a hit with a runner on second or third... and if you think getting a sac fly is not hard when a pitcher is doing everything he can to stop it.. once again.. you are wrong.. get away from the nerd stats for two seconds and go on a field.. the rbi is by far the best stat to show contributions of scoring runners.. without the rbi hit or sacrifice.. moving the runner up is meaningless.. but with a hit.. a runner can score from first with out it..

LOL.. rbi is not the best way to show contributions to scoring runs... clown statement bro.

I love when people resort to the "have you ever played the game" crap....yes, I played 2 years of college ball, but that's irrelevant. You really think the likes of Kruk and Mitch Williams are 'smart' about the game because they played it? Or better yet, Hall of Famer Joe Morgan...you ever hear the nonsensical things he says? But...but...but...he played the game right?

Please, do tell us that guys like Kruk and Williams both know more about the game than every single person who never made it past little league ball.

But...but...but...Kruk and Williams played the game!

Moustakas: .236/.293/.369
Harper: .264/.365/.502

How on earth is that "almost on par"? He has 72 points on him in OBP and 133 in SLG%.

I bet the teams that win it all like the Giants and Cards of recent go into the draft looking for players that can throw down a great sac bunt to move over a player from first to second.. cause that is just as important as the guy that drives him in.. screw the guys that can hit a double down the left field line.. give me that beast that can hit the sac bunt to move the runner over!

Trust me.. people that played the game at a high level are much better at making decisions in game than those that have not... There are not to many people that didn't make it out of tee ball coaching in the mlb.. so I would say that as to say they know more than the average person that never made it past little league.

Kruk forgot more about baseball than you ever knew.

Its hard not to mess with a guy that says there are better stats to show contributions of scoring a runner than a rbi.. or says that a guy that moves a runner over is just as important as the guy that drives him in.

Kruk also claimed Randy Johnson would win 30 games with the Yankees in 2005...I could care less about what he's forgotten, because he's irrational, as evidenced by the claim above

Who cares about Kruk.. I want to talk about your theory that rbi's are not the best way to judge a players cotnributions in scoring runs... I want more info from you on this.. it interests me to understand your theory.
