Brown isn't really tearing the cover off the ball...

Small sample size, I know, but AA is where our hitting prospects tend to die

Brown, Adrianza and Joseph finally showed some life at the plate tonight.

Brown 2-5 with a double and a run scored.

Adrianza 1-4 with a run and BB

Joseph 2-4 with 2 doubles, 1 RBI and a run.

Dominguez got the day off, but he's been on a tear, playing both 3B and LF/RF.

Guys who jumped out to me were Kieschnick, Culberson, Noonan, Bochy, Heston, Panik, Parker, Payne, Crick, and Blackburn.

Kieschnick is tearing the cover off the ball in AAA, he may be an option soon. Culberson too has done a very good job hitting this year and could be the 2B next year, if not sooner. Noonan has surprised me with his patience at the plate, looking forward to see if he can sustain it, he plays 2B, SS and 3B so possible future utility guy.

Bochy is untouchable right now, he may see Fresno soon and be a Pen option as soon as next year. Heston too is having a solid year and may emerge as starting depth.

Panik has a very solid line, if he continues his approach now, he will see his average rise and OBP skyrocket. Parker gets strangest line in the minors right now, more runs scored than hits, +.300 OBP and +.400 SLG with sub-.200 BA. He's showing pluses in every tool category except the hits aren't falling.

Gary Brown better watch out because Shawn Payne is coming fast. He is my sleeper prospect has has been on fire. Crick has had control problems, but has improved his last 2 starts, striking out 8 both times, walking 2. He's pitched 4 innings or less 4 of 5 times. Blackburn had one bad start, hurting his overall numbers. Has given up 21 runs, but 13 earned so that tells me the defense is pretty bad down in Augusta.

He is straight up nasty right now!

With our pen situation being what it is, I wouldn't be surprised if he's in AAA by mid summer, and gets the Runzler treatment come September.

He was projected to be a 5-10 round pick going into his junior year, but blew out his arm half way through the season. We picked him up in the 20s in a situation much the same as Wilsons. Hopefully this one pays equally large dividends

Interesting "new" name to keep an eye on for a cup o' joe this season, especially given our inf troubles...

Skyler Stromsmoe - He only has 67 PAs so far this season, but he is hitting .308/.455/.481 in Fresneck and has been playing EVERYWHERE. Prob is that he is already 28, so not much of a ceiling.

If they decide that Noonan needs a bit more seasoning, and they want to try a zero-risk solution in place of CG, Stromsmoe may by the perfect sacrificial lamb...

Another interesting tidbit...

Looks like Dominguez is no longer a 3B. He has yet to play in the infield this season. He has played exclusively in LF.

Skyler gets a nice biography-like article from fangraphs.

From the comments to the article: "So Skyler Stromsmoe was playing for the Southern Arkansas Mule Riders when he was signed to a pro contract by Tiny Thomas?"

I figure that this is simply because Panda has 3B pretty much sewed up for the next 3 seasons, so they are teaching him a new position.

You are probably right. Also, just because he has not played 3B this season does not mean he is done there. Last year they tried Pill at 2B. In '10, they played JCP at 2B the entire season, then he moved back to the OF...

It may be nothing more than an extended tryout for him.

Kiesch may be kicking in a door down in Fresno...

.331/.400/.636, 9 HR, 12 2B, 4 3B, 18/40 BB/K (he will fit right in).

However, I have no idea what his D is like (usually not a good sign), and the SF OF does not have any open slots.

I'm fine with DFAing Nate right now. Warning: If taken seriously, this will be the next thing you see: :dunce:

Yep, hard to find an opinion on him. Starting to think this current version of Blanco might be Gary Brown's ceiling. Might see Brown moved if the Giants need to add an infield bat in July.

That AA is a real ball-breaker of a possible career-definer, isn't it? Hopefully, he has a great June no matter what the org decides in terms of Mr. White's continued value. Do you think it would make sense to move Brown to AAA in hopes that a more "offense-minded Division" will make him look like a better prospect? Scouts don't just wipe AA out of their mind if a prospect struggles there and excels in AAA, do they? No matter how big of a backslide, he is still a Top 3 Prospect in a (slightly below) middle of the pack farm system, right?

No. I think everyone still rates Brown pretty much the same. It looks like he'll approach .260 in the eastern league before this season is over, and that's not terrible, nor great, enough such that anyone's opinion will change on him. So, yes, he's still a highly ranked prospect. Also, breaking out in Fresno will be discounted heavily.

Zack Wheeler seems to be adjusting to AA. 2.12 ERA in 30 innings, 37 K's. Of course, AA is pretty much a pitching division, isn't it?

Oh, and DFA Nate. Now!
