Yes, he tried, b/c Lucic had crept two feet forward towards the blue line beyond the position he was supposed to be in. He knows exactly what he's doing there. He knows where the faceoff dot is. So Brooks is trying to take back his rightful position and Lucic pushes him to the ice. Because Lucic is a nasty, nasty dude. This is well documented - he had 100 more PIMs than Brooks this year. That wasn't by accident. Yet somehow you see a penalty there on Laich? Look at the vid. If your worst accusation is Brooks put his leg in front of Lucic, that's not a fucking penalty, Wayne. That happens on nearly every faceoff with guys jockeying for spots. What doesn't happen is that one of the players turns and dumps the other on the ice. That's a 2 minute roughing and a botched call by the ref.

So you're telling me that not only what my 20/20 eyes are seeing is wrong, but I'm also supposed to believe that Brooks is suddenly a nastier cuss than Lucic? You guys call the Caps pussies and say we're not as tough as the B's, but somehow we're the instigators as well. That has zero foundation in logic.

The ref had just moved Chimera for the same shit. Both players got unsportsmanlike penalties. Correct call. As for Backs, 1) he did throw a crosscheck, 2) players are responsible for their sticks. Did he deserve a match penalty? In my opinion, no. I also don't think he deserved a game suspension, a fine would suffice as he's not known as a dirty player. Things get heated and tempers flair a little more in the playoffs. Also, most of my posts have been fairly restraint, so don't include me in your tirades about name calling and shit. Our opinions may differ, and they will as fans of opposing teams, but I have yet to call you a homer, or anything else, just for having your own opinion of the series.
