It is a weird goalpost to set when those players (not as picks) were good enough to bring back talent in big trades (or ended up too expensive to retain - whether or not that was a good decision by the front office - arrgh). As ridiculous as it may seem, the Lakers don't allow themselves a wide enough window for prospects to develop before moving them to chase bigger fish. If the team isn't a contender today, move whatever you can to make it a contender by next season seems to be the modus operandi, especially when big names are available. This franchise rarely bottoms out to a full, longer rebuild. The patience only lasts until a superstar is available.

That's part of being in LA and Hollywood. A big part of the reason they have such a stranglehold on the city with only the Dodgers coming close is because they do what they have to do to bring in star players.

Hard to argue with the results of operating that way.

Does that exist in these playoffs, at least in the West? The Grizz aren't getting those guys back. The Suns were stripped of depth for KD and slapped back together with spare parts (depth wise), but would still be the favorite. When is Playoff P back (and does it matter with the Lakers' block vs the Clips)? Are the Kings ready to really step up? The Nuggets are maybe the only example.

Maybe not. That's why I'm not ruling out that they could come out of the West. The teams that seem to be the healthiest are the Nugs and Kings (maybe the Warriors). They match up well with the Nugs and the Kings may be too young.

The Warriors don't really have anyone to handle AD, but Steph and Klay could expose the Lakers perimeter defense which is the one part they tend to struggle with.

I always forget about Roy.

I like it, my guy.

Well done.

Wade works too as mentioned earlier by others.

I thought about Wade, but I think SGA should be the better shooter?

His hand will be an issue all series even if he does play.

That being said, this team knows how to win without him.

Lakers can't sleep on them and need to give 110% in game 2.

If the Lakers find a way to go up 2-0 in this thing heading back to LA, then it might be over for the Griz with or w/o Ja.
But yeah...there's still a lot of ball to be played yet.

Yep. They've had a tendency to come out flat vs. undermanned teams. Can't do that.

Especially with this team because, as you said, they know how to get by without him.

It was great to see Lebron and AD concentrating on defense while others were scoring.

AD had 7 blocked shots yesterday. Lebron had 3.
Bron didn't do shit on offense in 4th...and we won convincingly. Pretty rare.

Ja's play style is fun as hell to watch but it's clear he's abusing his body

Missing a lot of games
It's weird. 1 and 2 from that draft are uber-athletic guys that play a gruesome style of basketball, not good for a long career but one of them can't even play one half of a season. Ja is getting by bc he doesn't weight 300 like Zion. Both really fun guys to watch when healthy.

Now because of injuries to Ja and Giannis, there's a push to change the charge/block rule further in favor of the offensive player. The rule isn't why players are getting hurt; it's a lack of self-preservation. Play under control seems like the easier fix.

What is the rule change? Players run the other way and allow a dunk

Eventually defenders will have to have their hands behind their backs
...while the offensive player takes two jump stops, drags a pivot foot, jumps to pass and comes back down before releasing the ball lol.
