I heard on the radio in Dallas yesterday that this Golden St team is the best ever. This guy said GS was on pace to shatter the Bulls regular season record. I know the game is less physical than the NBA of the past, which has made it easier for offenses like GS to succeed and I get that GS is pretty solid defensively as well, but..

Thoughts?

All I know is Jordan, Pippen, Rodman -- some of the best defenders in the history of the game would not be letting the Warriors score at will. Plus I don't think the NBA is as competitive from top to bottom now like it was back in the 80's & 90's. Yes GS just ran through the Cavs, Bulls, and Spurs.. But it's January and some of on here know the NBA changes a bit come April/May.

Jordan on Curry
Pippen on Thompson
Rodman on Green

I don't get why people constantly have to compare eras. Can't GS just be the best team now and the Bulls the best team of the 90's?

I agree.. Tough to match them up playing in 2 different styles of bball. Way more finesse now and "hands off" while playing D.

But this dude came right out and said it.. :L

^^^THIS^^^

The rules have changed too much over the years to accurately compare eras. In the 90's, the "Jordan Rules" were basically that you get real physical with him and clobber him a few times when he goes to the hoop.

Under today's rules, all of that would be a foul and some would be flagrant fouls. Plus, with his size, I doubt Curry could stand up to beating that MJ took. Some of the shit that the Pistons, Knicks and Heat did to him was just brutal.

FIFY ;) Pistons killed Jordan, but him into a beast as well.

In the 90's MJ started to get those calls and got to the line a helluva lot.

Yeah, the Bad Boys were pretty well done when MJ was really dominating the league. He pretty well ended the Showtime Lakers and Bad Boy Piston's when he won that first title. But the Bad Boys provided the blueprint that the Knicks and Heat used on him. He got more calls than in the 80's, but in today's game, he'd be averaging about 35 free throws a game if teams tried what they did back then.

Yeah man the 80s and 90s were the shit for bball.. I love that style of play vs today. More physical, more brawls, it was real bball. Less floppin too.

As far as being "on pace to shatter the Bulls record"... they're actually exactly on pace to tie the Bulls record.

The Bulls were also 41 - 4 through 45 games.

Aaah, The good ol' days.

I'd like to see the NBA come up with a "happy medium" between the way the game was played then vs. now. Things got a little too physical, even for my taste, in the 80's and 90's, but the pendulum has swung too far the other direction.

It has made the refs a much bigger part of the game than they were ever supposed to be. Imo, that's why we see so much more crying about the refs by fans, players and coaches than we ever used to.

Seems like the refs are a bigger part of the game in all of sports these days. But bball it's pretty bad. Disrupts the entire flow of the game.

I will say during the Finals last year, they would let them play at times. Sometimes you get that "old school" crew that lets them play.

Bulls lost 3 games in the final 3 weeks of the regular season in '96 I believe.

Bulls also lost 1 playoff game going into the Finals up 3-0 on Seattle and then lost 2 straight.

That Bulls team is better than the Warriors team of this year.

Lol it didn't make sense though at all to me, they always have been lockdown defensive team

West coast teams scoring at will don't impress me. West coast teams that shut you down do impress me.

However it's a different game than it was in the 90s

I'm not talking about offense I'm talking about defense. They just shut down Cleveland, bulls and spurs

How did the Pacers and Reggie Miller fare against Jordan and the Bulls?

If we have to compare, i'd take the Bulls any day.
