Welp, time to go back to SF.
Their combined box score line is: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 1 HR. That is a quality appearance by a much maligned group of pitchers.Mad props to our relief corp to keep the Cubs to only 1 run in 6 innings of work. Too bad the offense is continuing to play like it has since July.
Not much out there. I know that Cespedes could be available (I would assume he exercises his opt out clause). After him the list is short - Edwin Encarnacion, Mike Napoli, Justin Turner, Jonathan Lucroy (if he doesn't exercise his option), Wilson Ramos, Jose Bautista, Carlos Beltran, Ian Desmond, Josh Reddick, Michael Saunders and Mark Trumbo. Not much time left for EYIAT and the Billy Goat Curse to work.
We need a real badass bat added to this team, but not sure where to put him or who's out there.
Ryan Braun would be a good acquisition for next season. Not much time left for EYIAT and the Billy Goat Curse to work.

That is somewhere between 10 to 12 bats (depending on what happens with Cespedes and Lucroy). When these are considered the cream of the crop and the next group of batters on the market include Cameron Maybin, Jay Bruce, Chase Utley and Luis Valbuena, I consider that a short list. That list isn't short but when you remove the guys who don't really qualify as badass bats (Reddick, Beltran's corpse who's already been here, Napoli, etc) it does get short
Too bad Sammy imploded I wonder if Boch would consider inserting Blach, if by some miracle of miracles Sammy's turn comes around again?Mad props to our relief corp to keep the Cubs to only 1 run in 6 innings of work. Too bad the offense is continuing to play like it has since July.
Doesn't Sammy have a history of collapsing in big games? There has been lots of chatter (radio, blogs) about using Sammy in the pen in the playoffs. Maybe that is a decent idea.Too bad Sammy imploded I wonder if Boch would consider inserting Blach, if by some miracle of miracles Sammy's turn comes around again?

But I doubt this is a discussion that needs to be had.
If we got Lucroy, where would we put our current catcher? Not much out there. I know that Cespedes could be available (I would assume he exercises his opt out clause). After 19 IPs, the starting pitchers have given up 5 runs. Conversely, in 27 IPs, the offense have scored a grand total of 5 runs.True, but -- #weaklink.
PoopTurdzijas gotta poopturd
Poopturd lost the game. He was weak. After 19 IPs, the starting pitchers have given up 5 runs. Conversely, in 27 IPs, the offense have scored a grand total of 5 runs.
Would you like to stand behind your #weaklink stance? Personally, I apply the #weaklink elsewhere.
