Despite leading the league with 100 wins, St. Louis is in the middle of the pack in terms of teams favored to win the World Series by the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. The Cards are sandwiched by the Mets and Rangers.

I'd take it further and say they're 5th of 6 division winners. The wild card teams are clearly (and rightly so) ranked lower because of that wild card game. It will be interesting to see this list after the WC games.

It is a shame that the Pirates and Cubs have to go at it and then face the Cards. Seems to me that if both wild cards come out of the same division and the division winner is the #1 seed, the winner of the wild card game should play the #2 seed.

I don't know about "purely," but would agree that the odds favor the NL wild card teams. Can't say I disagree. The Cubs and Pirates both won more games than either the Yankees or Astros, and they were in a stronger division.

If you're a Cardinals, Cubs or Pirates fan then I think you have no problem facing your division rivals in the playoffs instead of a less worthy team every. single. time.

NEW YORK (10/5) -- Get ready for a couple of late nights of TV viewing on the East Coast.

The New York Mets' opening two games of the division series at Dodger Stadium will be at 9:45 p.m. ET on Friday and 9:07 p.m. ET on Saturday.

The Mets had figured the games would start earlier and shadows would be a factor in trying to pick up the baseball out of the hands of Clayton Kershaw andZack Greinke. Now, that should not be a factor.

I know I've heard it before but too much distortion for Shazam and can't even really make out the words. Identify that song - starts at about 16 seconds in.
