I get what you're sayiing, but they did win back to back WS in 1961 and 1962 and went to 4 straight from '61-'64. It really just went into hiatus from 1965-1994 when they "only" won 2 World Series and "only" appeared in 4.

I'm sure it has to do with the fact that the Astros have to win two to get there. Meaning, even though the chances are favorable that the Astros will win either game in a vacuum, the chances of them winning both is somewhat less.

Still, they've given the Yankees more than double the chance to win the WS, which seems a little odd.

Well the Dodgers only won once in Brooklyn and the Giants only won twice in New York after the Yankees won their first. It was mostly just the Yankees.
