Meh. We played the better first two periods, but too slow/plodding in the 3rd. Sometimes the better team loses. It's hockey. Oh well. Long series.

With the way the Lightning were playing in the middle I thought for sure we were screwed. But they managed to rally. Intense and good game. Can't want to see what happens Sunday.

Just a few observations from this game/thread:

Yeah, that's coming off the board. Still, Rolo has been a rebound machine so far.

Wish he had been a rebound machine against the Pens...he was more like a puck magnet.

For your sake, I hope the series isn't the same as the Pens...but it looked eerily similar. Keep in mind, I merely watched highlights, but it seemed like the Caps were on the PP a lot and just didn't get the bounces they wanted to put away Tampa, then Tampa gets one freaking PP, pops one in, shuts it down for Roli to save the day, and the Caps didn't get a good bounce all game, right? Yeah...carbon copy of games 6 and 7.

Also, in merely watching the highlights I realized that it wasn't just because the Pens played them...Tampa is REALLY ANNOYING to play against. Malone is just a jerk in front of the net. He sits in front of the opposing net and causes a ruckus, good for him...but after the whistle he still goes in there to push around the Dmen just because. I hope someone lays that overpaid idiot out. That and their whole beating you even though you played a lot better thing...it's just annoying.

Actually, the lightning got a bunch of I'll be nice and say borderline calls. Caps pp was bad but that's now why they lost. The lightning were able to stay in the game when it was 2-1 then somehow took the lead with a lucky bounce then were too stationary on the pk. All of a sudden they were down 3-2 going into the third when they should've had atleast a 2-1 lead and then TB just collapsed and tightened up. Then caps kept trying to move lateral against that 1-3-1 which does no good.....there was no reason we should've been behind buy Tampa cashes in on every opportunity they get

One thing that seriously worries me is that Carlson might be injured, played less than a minute in the 3rd and played just 14:39 all game.

Oy. Tough loss fellas but the Caps played the better hockey. I still think we take this in 5. Sorry that I could not be here last night but I was at a fundraiser last night watching the game. It was at a sports bar. Caps looked a little lazy early but played great for the middle 40 minutes. They will be fine.

Found myself saying the same thing a lot about my Pens...played the better game, they will be fine. Difference here is, Caps have the finishers the Pens didn't. So in this case, I believe you will be fine.

Yes the Bolts got a lucky bounce, yes the CAPS were a better team for 2 periods, but Tampa took control in the third, they totally out played the Caps, that was the changing point, Come on caps fans, didn't we prove to you if you don't play 60 it's hard to win, we learned the hard way in the reg season, hopefully they learned that last nite. Also I wouldn't be to quick to say the Bolts are gonna be a pushover cause they have a lot of vets with a lot of playoff experience, should be a good series the rest of the way..

Well, no, not really. The Caps dominated the 2nd and somehow lost it 2-1 with bad bounces and phantom calls. THAT was the changing point. Nobody dominated the 3rd, it was a clusterf#$# of terrible hockey that had only 9 shots by the two teams combined.
