After Bobby Lou, I thought Alex Edler was the best Canuck on the ice last night. Strong defensively and laying out guys.

It amazes me that he is so effective after missing so much time. Guy is a monster!

Having said that, I see the Canucks bombarding the Hawks tonight from the opening puck drop. If Chicago can survive the first 10 minutes, it will be interesting. Don't be surprised if it's 2-0 Vancouver and we're only halfway through the 1st period.

Rep, seeing as this is pretty much exactly what happened

Throwin' the body around, eh? I'm gonna try to catch the replay today sometime. Couldn't stay up. Gotta get all the rest I can for when my eastern time zone team heads west...

body blows in the early rounds, right :D

it was nice to see, auto ... at one point Oreskovich hammered Stalberg after an offside whistle ... and there was no response from the Hawks ... no scrum ... no nothing ... big change from previous years

i expect the Hawks to respond next game ... but i dont know how?

Do Toews and Sharp start throwing the body ... great ... thats not their game . Do they insert John Scott into the lineup? ... great ... he doesnt have the skating ability to get to guys to hit them clean

If the Hawks are gonna get physical its gonna have to come from guys like bryan bickell, jake dowell, and tomas kopecky.

Will Kopecky be playing? He left the game after about 2 mins of ice time.

that team doesnt look near itself from the last couple years without Buff. its not just losing Ladd, Eager, Versteeg that changed this team its 90% Big Buff. He was a force. Im so glad hes gone

Sounds like Toews, Kane, coach Q and other leaders need to get the new blood better prepared for what they are getting themselves into. Just because you weren't around when it started, you're wearing that jersey now. I would assume the adversity to make the playoffs was the most a lot of those guys have faced. Well, you're here now. The adversity level just got higher than ever...

I dont agree that its 90% Buff ... but yes he was a major part of the past aura that no longer exists

Ladd, Burish, Buff, Eager, Madden ... these guys made everyone else on the team play 2 inches taller and 20 pounds heavier

At least the Canucks are saying all the right things... hard not to when they also won game 1 the last 2 years vs the Hawks.

that guy is THE leader ... player coach imo ... so young yet he demands performance on ice ... cbc kept doing iso's on him making scowls and almost arguing with teammates on ice ... He will rally the team

/only thing Kane is leading is the lineup to get in the Roxy

True true. But Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Sharp and other vets are going to have to set some sort of an example as far as intensity goes.

Still gonna be hard to ramp up the attack while still taking care of your untested playoff goalie.

Crawford settled in well - shaky start though. fighting off lots of rebounds.
I think he's a better goalie than Niemi was last year.

But they did take some steps to protect the Leddy / Campoli defense pair - against basically any line but the 4th.
that's going to wear on Keith / Seabrook at some point. Hit 'em hard, hit 'em often and the can't keep playing half the game (effectively, anyways).

CBC had one splitscreen shot where Toews was shaking his head at something Campbell had done.
loved to see that. Toews shouldn't have to take care of $7million vets.

LAst night was a different Vibe. No big ceremony for the opening of the playoffs just a short video intro as usual. the Crowd was loud and boisterous but it was a Business as Usual thing. The team feels different in a good way
