I can't help but think that the West is the better conference this year. I know this comes up for debate every year, but if the Hawks were in the East I feel they would be a top team, not an 8 seed. Not only that I'm trying to think what teams in the East will be able to compete with the Canucks if they are on their game?

Boston was my pick, but their lack of a true goal scorer seems to be their achilles heal.

holy shit.

I repeat..... HOLY SHIT.

85 credited hits in this game, too. a little closer though (45-40 Van)
Toews still getting defensemen-style minutes. that's gotta wear on him before too long.

The Sabres/Flyers game last night had 76 total hits.

This is Playoff Hockey now!

Just wait until they travel 20,000-30,000 miles or so and get beat up in the process with high travel time. No competitive advantage there for the finals.
I always get told that is the biggest excuse ever.

True, I forgot about the Trans-Pacific Flights and the Antarctic expeditions experienced by Western Conference teams. I miss Unbiased......

You seriously went there :L
Edit: I never went on to say to say how it was a bug versus windshield or anything similar.
I would like to hear how it is not a competitive advantage.
If you and a co-worker are set up to do the exact same job but you have to spend 20 or so more hours on a plane over the course of 2 months crossing time zones on a regular basis, would your co-worker not have a competitive advantage?

Lou not at his best but they still won ... thank god ... now he can meet with Rollie and go over not just the technical but also the mental part of it

Hawks pressed but honestly that game should have been 4-1 or even another shutout

Toews and Kane have only been able to take 7 total shots in 2 games

Seabrook and Keith looked dead tired

I would be willing to do the math for a few years if you want to dispute. I will even count time zone changes.

polar opposite from game 1.

- Lou phenomenal (and a bit lucky) in game one, the role players get it done on offense. Hawks should have probably had a couple in this game.
- Lou average at best in game 2, and the Sedins steal the show. Hawks probably got a couple more than they should have in this game.

Nice to know we can win BOTH ways :)
Hawks have absorbed 92 hits in the first two games.

if the canucks advance (even though theyre up 2-0 its hard not to be wary of luongos mental fragility going back to Chicago) and the predators get by the ducks ... 2000 miles ... ugh ... combine their time up in the air with a grueling grind it out series and then compare it to the possibility of an cup finals opponent from the east conceivably running through their conference without traveling 2000 miles total ... yikes!

more fatigue news (Hawks this time), there was no whistle in the last 6 minutes of the game.... which cost the Hawks and their overused top payers a chance at a TV timeout, AND a regular timeout.

meanwhile, the Sedins were rolling at 18-ish minutes. maybe there's something to the 'depth' thing afterall

It's quite funny how 12 months have changed things from a mental perspective. Last year, it was the Canucks barking at officials and looking rattled and this year, it's the Hawks beaking off at the refs and each other.

Also, maybe Keith and Seabrook wouldn't be so tired if Marian Hossa got off their respective coattails and actually starting doing something in this series?
