yup

he has mastered the big swoop around the back of the net ... at least he has abandoned the wraparound and now continues along the perimeter and looks for teammates to pass too (rarely finds them though)

he found Kesler coming in for a huge one timer in the slot, after some good work in the corner.
but yeah, that kid needs to get dirty to be effective. Kelser has got to be his role model. Or even Burrows.

as for Lou... his night can be summed up by that shorthanded breakaway save. That was an obviously HUGE play when it mattered the most. After sitting there for a lot of minutes without a shot.
since coming back in for Schneider - he has been 0.76 GAA, .969 sv%. Overrated, underrated, I don't really care what anyone calls it.... just keep it up!!!

I expect Nashville to show up with a hell of a lot more on Saturday... fortunately, Vancouver also has a hell of a lot more in the tank.
Still kind of surprised that neither team came out hitting everything and anything. I can kind of see it psychologically from our side - in that respect it WAS a bit of a let-down game. Good things the legs were moving.

anywho... onwards and upwards!!!

hmm interesting

When Roberto Luongo didn't start game six of the first round playoff series against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday it didn't take long for some rumors to start, and some of them even had some truth involved.

The most aggressive tale was that his absence had nothing to do with any coaching decision by the powers that be within the Canucks, but rather that a close friend of the goalie had died, taking his own life in fact, and that Luongo was so profoundly sad that the team didn't dare risk inserting him into such a crucial game unless there was no other option.

That's where the grain of truth pops up. Turns out Luongo did experience the loss of someone who is believed to have suffered life's ultimate despair but it didn't have anything to do with the goaltending decision.

"He was an acquaintance of mine but we weren't close," said Luongo. "It's not like I hung out with the guy or anything. I was sad but it didn't have anything to do with Schneids (Cory Schneider) playing."

I thought the atmosphere was pretty good for the most part. It wasn't as intense as the series with Chicago but I could definetly tell it was a Playoff game. I think the series with the San Jose Sharks a few years ago, had the toughest crowd of all the teams Nashville has played in the Playoffs but that could change this year. The Canucks fans are as passionate as any fans in the league.

preds fans are pretty passionate too now, our stadium gets LOUD on playoff day. Understand why yours was a little softer then usual, like mattola said - only had 48 hours between games, not a team you guys have ever played against; so no hate yet and that game was kinda boring to watch

I fully expect the Preds fans to blow the roof off in game 3 :)

Props to Hansen during that PK late in the 3rd. He was flying out there. A big factor in clinching the game, imo.

Were the Preds really that out of it in the first game? I missed it, and commentators and Trotz are making it sound like they didnt even try.

Yeah, they played really bad last night. They didn't show any kind of life till the 3rd. I believe Vancouver was winning the faceoff battle 12-0 at one time, and also at one time out shooting Nashville 16-5 or something like that. But you have to give Vancouver a lot of credit though. They played very well. And Pekka Rinne played excellent. With him at goalie, he's able to keep Nashville in every game they play. Too bad he couldn't get any help from their offense.

Will the Predators score a goal in Game 2? It would be nice. I mean Rinne can stand on his head all he wants, but it won't mean a damn thing if the team in front of him can't at least get ONE GOAL.

Matters if we can even get past the blue line, yet alone set up some offense. We also did like 3 or 4 blind drop passes that were pretty sloppy, got get rid of dumb stuff like that and get back to Preds hockey style of play

What is the one dream scenario you'd like to see in the conference semifinals?
Burnside: Vancouver GM Mike Gillis complaining about the officiating before Game 7 against Nashville, the Canucks taking 15 minor penalties in a row and the Preds scoring eight power-play goals to advance.

Hradek: How about the Bruins overcoming a 3-0 deficit to beat the Flyers in a seventh and deciding game? Is turnabout really fair play?

LeBrun: I think Nashville and San Jose winning their respective series would be tremendous, if for no reason to see two non-traditional markets getting a chance at the national limelight, in particular small-market Nashville.

not many people from Vancouver seem to be rooting for y'all : /

Burnside and Hradek have never been canuck fans and Hradek is not even commenting on the Canucks series. The Burnside comment is just plain stupid and not funny.

LeBrun is strange but he just looks at the overall growing of the game. if it was Nashville and San Jose the ratings would be incredibly low.

I read an article from a national (i.e. Toronto) newspaper where the guy went ridiculously out of his way to argue that the Canucks would NOT be Canada's team in these payoffs.
it basically boiled down to they wanted to cheer for a Canadian team, but only if it was an underdog :ohwell:
edit: here it is: http://sports.nationalpost.com/2011/04/28/canucks-as-canadas-team-no-thanks/

whatever - fuck 'em.

Go Canucks Go!!!

Hoping for a better performance out of the Preds and that they can head back to Nashville with a split.

Im sure they will be much better. Im hoping also the CAnucks will have done more video on Rinne and look for the weak spots.

If both gollies play as well as game 1, then it will probably be another low scoring game. I think the Preds are going to need at least 3 goals tonight, if they are going to win.

Canucks cant win every game by 1 goal. Preds are too good for that.

I think anyone who gets 3 in this series in a game will win it. I figure every game will be under 4 goals per game with one odd high scoring game. Seemed Anaheim was able to pop some against Rinne so I cant see why the CAnucks cant follow suit.

We really need the Sedins to start to light the lamp
