Siakam avg more than him by about 3 PPG so yeah Lowry isn't exactly their 2nd option.

Siakam avg 17 on 54% shooting and 37% from 3.

They also have other veteran guys like Gasol, Ibaka, Green, Van vleet etc. who provide strong complimentary scoring options.

IMO, Lowry's value is irreplaceable because of his facilitating prowess and his defense. Scoring is gravy on top for him and when he is scoring they are as good as anybody outside of GS.

My point is, he's a good player (Siakam), but he's not at an all-star level. And not someone that I would definitively say is the 2nd option on the Raptors and that you can afford for Lowry to be the 3rd/4th option. Lowry has to be better consistently in the playoffs.

I agree he has to be more consistent but i don't he needs to stand out anymore which was required of him when it was just him and derozan.

Now he can give them his regular season numbers and that will be totally fine.

Those guys do provide scoring options, but most of those guys with the exception of Gasol have been on this roster before. In the end, you can't afford Lowry to have games from an offensive standpoint like game 1.

Edit: Just saw Green's name here as well.

I also don't think there's much doubt that siakam was their 2nd best player this year. I still have no idea why or how lowry made the AS team this year

i hate jimmy butler with a passion. AS i have said- i think he will be on his 4th team in 5 years- how many great players can say that?

Everyone that has had him has decided its better not to pay him as a one of the top players in the game.
Is this really true? You are sure Minnesota and Philly would not pay him, and it was not his choice to leave (if he leaves Philly)?

It is about their games.

They are both top notch defenders.

On offense, Klay does not ever need the ball in his hands and is among the best of all time playing off the ball working off screens for his shot. Defenses need to devote tons of attention to him while also focusing on the playmaker with the ball.

Butler is like the opposite. He isn't that great playing off the ball and he needs the ball in his hands to be effective.

Neither is good enough to carry a real contender. Klay's skill set fits ideally with other star players. Butler's does not because Butler needs the ball and Klay doesn't. Klay is much better off the ball. So I really don't care much for Butler's playmaking ability because he wants a lot of his touches in ISO.

And if I have a good team, chances are Butler is not going to be my best ISO player.

So give me the guy who is better off the ball all day every day on a good team.

And if I have the type of team that Butler would fit better with, I probably don't want either. Because 40 wins doesn't really appeal to me.
wow....if this is only about their game it's Butler all day. Agree he cannot carry a title contender, but he could carry a conference finals contender, and has. Could Klay? Not so sure but my opinion is no chance.

For sure it’s interesting but the argument was who would you rather have Klay or Middleton and DT just jumped to I’d rather have Kawhi. Lol. Who wouldn’t?
Actually the question started as who would you want over Klay in FA and Kawhi was mentioned (wiuth Middleton). Try and keep up with yourself.

Just went back and looked and I will amend previous comments. Looks like I did mention Kawhi for no earthly reason as a reply to your comment.

Yeah.

Good comeback.

Sad about Boogie.
I still think the Warriors will squeak this one out in 7 games but will be so discouraged afterward that the Rockets will destroy them.

Minnesota had no intention of giving him a max and i dont think Philly will either. You want to give Jimmy Butler 5 years 190 million going into his age 30 season with all the Thibs miles on him?

Minnesota traded for him with no intention to keep him? If I'm not mistaken, one thing he didn't like there was players (Towns/Wiggins) didn't care enough. That's a bad trait?

Minnesota offered him 4 yr/110 mil.....that's basically a max contract

So to say they had no intentions of giving him a max is just not true

Wiggy is lying. They offered him a deal and he turned it down because he hated playing with Wiggins and Towns (i wouldn't like playing with Wiggins either tbh)

Wiggy out here acting like Minnesota didn't offer him a deal

It may not have been the full max but offering someone 27+ mil annually is a lot of money.

And also a first offer. Doesn't mean they wouldn't offer more. Seems likely Butler told them he's not staying and asked to be traded.

and we still don't know that Philly wont keep him.

Great...but to set the record straight the question was who would you take over Klay in FA. Kawhi was on my list.

No doubt.

Kd, Kyrie,Kawhi

Then team dependent Kemba (ok the k thing is weird)
