I knew it wasn't going to be much. They put more weight on history and result than they do on the actual plays.

They really do put more weight on history than needed. Basically this says the plays were equally offensive...which they weren't. At all. I was fully expecting 2 at the least.

I think it was too. I mean, I'm obviously happy for my team because we need him, but in a larger sense they need to make bigger splashes than this. Now if Kunitz does something similar again, they wouldn't look at this incident for what it was as part of his history, but instead say, "Well, he's only received a one game suspension before."

Hilariously, this is what the wheel of justice said he would get when I spun it.

true but imo if Downie got initial prime contact with Lovejoys head we would have been looking at a McAmmond type punishment

the Heatley verdict shows the NHL doesnt seem to feel the same way you do about the Kunitz hit

I think they were worried about backlash, so I thought they might do this and make them equal. Downie gets his for his history. If he gets less than Koon, people point to other dangerous plays he's made. Kunitz gets his because it was dirtier, but he has a clean history.

Did think it would be two a piece though.

When two teams are involved, it's tough to find a conspiracy. Also, this is SportsHoopla, not the Swamp.

Downie deserved more because of his history. Kunitz deserved more because his hit was nasty. But it's tough to find conspiracies when the punishments doled out by the league are so frequently capricious and arbitrary.

Tangradi is healthy and ready to play...he's just been out because there's no room in the lineup. Well...now there is. He played the last reg season game in Atlanta, had a very solid outing.
