Lions are 3-1. Not too shabby. Long way to go, and we've started out well before. However, you can't deny how our D has looked and how our offense actually produced points and a win basically without CJ doing a damn thing.

Digs looked good today. D was pretty dominant other than the first drive and the other scoring drive. D caused some turnovers, offense didn't turn it over.

Broyles had a big catch today. Ebron looked god and had a couple big catches, including his first career TD. Stafford proved he can look deep to others besides CJ. Tate played huuuuge today. Running game didn't get much going, but was able to burn some clock late.

Henery had a big kick, then a bad miss. However, I read a summary by Tim Twentyman that said he isn't quite comfortable from that distance looked like he tried getting too much leg and forgot to aim. ;)

All in all, a very solid road victory against the league's #2 D.

As I stated in another thread. I am really starting to enjoy watching the Lions defense. They aren't predictable anymore. They also make adjustments, which was unheard in past years.

The Jets basically shoved the ball down our throat on the opening drive with Chris Ivory. He had 6 carries for 51 yards. The defense held in the red zone and then limited Ivory to 11 carries and 23 yards the rest of the game.

I was critical of hiring Austin, but I really like what I see from the defense thus far, as they have been able to weather the injuries and continue to play tough, hard nosed defense. While the Jets are a team who is offensively challenged, all Lions fans have to do is look what GB did to the Bears in Chicago after Detroit completely shut them down. If the defense continues tp play like it has been. Detroit is going to be extremely tough to beat.

Offensively -- I like what they did today without their best weapon at full speed. I missed the Jeremy Ross TD pass, as I was in my car, but they looked good on the other drives I watched them. I have no idea why they struggle running all game, but at the end of the game, they always find a way to scratch out a first down or two on the ground?!?! It is wild, but it has happened in multiple games, so they are doing something right at the end of games. If we could bottle that blocking and use it in the 1st 3 quarters -- our offense would be tough to stop.

Does anyone have any ideas on why we are able to run late and why we struggle in the 1st 3 quarters? I was thinking maybe it has to do with conditioning?

Not sure on conditioning... IMO if you are better conditioned for late should also benefit early.

I am sure at some point the early effectiveness will cost them. Jets are weak on pass D and it helped. Play somebody with good pass D and can not run early it will be ugly.

Also add why I ask same question you do, have played 3 really good front 7s this year. Maybe it changes later down road.

Was not big on giving Henry a chance for career long at that point in game. Truly would not care if Martin can't pen deep and stil have to drive 80 to score. That almost flipped momentum IMO

Well done. Offense is gradually getting better, but still sputtering a bit. It does not matter who we play the offense is doing what it wants. Unfortunately, they stop themselves a lot.

The defense is still playing tough. I still think it is Austin's system. It does not matter who is out there. I saw Daryl frieken Tapp out there making a couple plays. I didn't see George Johnson today which worries me. What is encouraging is despite our D-Line not getting a ton of pressure, the defense was still solid. In Austin we trust.

I still think we need to start 5-1 to make the playoffs with the tough schedule in the final 10

When is La Waddle coming back??? Jets have most sacks in NFL. Added to it today OL has been decent so far before today. Not going to freak out against that front four, but man we need Waddle back

waddle was practicing this week so i think he is getting close. waddle is also why i think the running game isnt great early. we wear them out early and have the depth to run strong late but early it is tough. it also doesn't help the jets, giants, and panthers have tough front 7s that like to stop the run. the jets were the 2nd best defense this week after all.

my 2 cents stafford has a lot of weapons now. we were banged up as hell in this game and dropped 24 it was a great performance from stafford. i am still uneasy about ebron with the depth we have but fauria going down might actually help us become more consistent and let the young kid get more comfortable in the offense.

defense is still strong the front 4 are getting after them consistently. though i am worried that the jets might have figured out an Achilles heel running the long crossing routes underneath but i am hoping that was more we are up 14 late lets play back and not get beat over the top.

overall great win on the road making it back to back Ws and they beat the spread :)

I was thinking at the beginning of the game, both teams are fresh. So conditioning may not mean too much. As the games continue, the players wear down and the better conditioned team will have more left in the tank late in the game.

This is nothing more than a guess and I couldn't even give an answer to what type of conditioning either team does. It was just something that popped in my head. For some reason, this team is able to run the ball late in games. Whatever it is they are doing -- I hope they continue to do it.

Yes it does not remind of the old time wearing a defense down.

I could see the pass happy offense wearing down the front four a little always rushing the pass more a good bit of game. ???

Yeah -- didn't think of that. That could definitely be part of the reason.

No complaints so far. 3-1 with 3 "victory formation" wins. I don't remember seeing 3 of those in a season though there probably have been. Seems we usually win while the other team is desperately trying to drive for the tying or winning score. I missed the 2nd half... I'll watch the recording this week sometime. There is still no run game to speak of, but the Jets stop the run well. Score 24 on the Jets and you're usually going to beat them. But it was nice to be able to move the ball without Calvin. Hopefully we won't have to get used to that. What's the story ? Is it his ankle ? It didn't look like he was limping.

Yep. Should have punted there. But Reggie should have caught the pass on third down too.

Stafford may have been better than he was in week One. I missed the first quarter, but he looked very good the rest of what I saw, on the whole.

I couldn't possibly like our DTackles more. Big Mo Wilkerson is a bad muhfuggah, but our dudes are badder.

That diving grab from Broyles brought me to my feet. I don't like him as much as LP does, but Im pulling for that guy. Hope we continue to see more of him.

Glad to see the lions get their first road win under their belt. The lions did well in all facets of the game today. Besides the illegal contact penalty by mathis that lead to a jets TD they made no big mistakes. I didnt see much contact on that penalty either. The kicker missed a long FG, but many kickers would miss that. Stafford to tate all day long, defense dominated again. Lions should demolish buffalo.

I would probably roll with that same lineup they had going today most of the time. Lions should be fine with Ebron and Pettigrew at TE and CJ, Tate, Broyles, Fuller and Ross at WR. Broyles offers more between the 20's.
