Sox entered the bottom of the 8th with a 4-0 lead. At the end of the 8th they were down 5-4. Can't lose games like this in such a tight race.

Tigers won their 7th straight and now are only 3 GB of Indians who been getting their ass handed to them by the freaking Twins.

The Rockies remain hot as they improve to 13-5 since the AS break which is the best in baseball. Only 3.5 back of 2nd WC spot.

You heard Hanley slipped down the stairs and possibly broke his wrist?
Dombrowski will have an update later. I'm pretty concerned, especially with how well Hanley's been hitting lately. He's batted .293/.377/.571 with 10 home runs and a 148 wRC+ over his last 159 PA.

Just the cherry on top of last night's shitshow.

My fantasy team is concerned as well. He is on 2 of my 3 Yahoo fantasy teams.

Yankees could be a scary team in a few years.

For a long time folks have suggested that Cashman is not a good GM because he always had a high payroll to work with. There are a handful of teams that had deep pockets over the last two decades and none of them had anywhere near the success that the Yankees did.

Cashman an advantage in the free agent market and he very effectively used that advantage. With the changes we've seen in the free agent landscape, the Yankees are shifting their strategy to capitalize on their advantages.

I fully expect him to eat Dave Dombrowski's lunch, and I look forward to witnessing it because 1) DD is WAY overrated and I want to see him exposed and 2) the Red Sox are homos.

I've always thought Cashman was a pretty good GM. He's done a hell of a job turning the Yanks system around.

Huh...no Mets-Yankees in the headline???

Sorry I can't participate further, I have two off-site meetings over in Manhattan and will probably be out of the office all day. Let me just re-iterate that I am not a big fan of the Jay Bruce trade...until he starts hitting.

It's not only that, he's loading the system at the perfect time. Assuming that they accept that they probably won't be all that great in 17 and that 18 will be more of a transition year, he's setting them up for the perfect clash of prospects maturing and the free agency shitshow that will ensue once the 2018 season concludes. With a fully stacked farm by that point and all the money in the free world to spend on possible names like Harper, Donaldson, Machado, McCutchen, Kershaw, Quintana, Keuchel etc. the Yankees could set themselves up for another dynastic era if they play it right. Shit would be insane.

Why do I get the feeling that Jonathan Lucroy is Canadian?

Pretty encouraging outing for Price, even with that 8th inning. He tried to sneak a breaking ball past Zunino and failed, but the other hits were soft ones. His command was off though. Farrell should have had someone warming up sooner, and Price really should have been pulled either after the home run or the first single.

Farrell just can't seem to adapt in games when things change in a hurry. I think the 2013 WS was a prime example when Brandon Workman came up to bat in the 9th inning. He's just a terrible tactical manager. Not against the idea of firing him, but I don't think the Sox can find a significant upgrade at the manager position.

LOL at Homer Bailey talking shit about the Reds' return on the Jay Bruce trade.

He said, "There's nothing personal about that, but right now, we're definitely making some moves that are quite questionable, especially for the guys who put on the jersey every day."

Funny shit. Instead of pissing and moaning about the Reds FO's ineptitude, he should STFU and just count his lucky stars that as a below average pitcher he's in the midst of a 6yr/$105MM contract due in large part to the questionable move the Reds made in giving him that contract.

"Questionable moves that the Reds make that result in $105MM in my bank account are pretty cool. The other ones? Not so much..."
