I say sign him. It would probably average out at a 4 year deal for $20M per year.

One of the top free agents in 2020 will be Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, and Clowney has stated a team's likelihood of Super Bowl contention is a key factor for his signing. WalterFootball.com has learned from league sources that the Indianapolis Colts are one of the teams are expected to make a run at signing Clowney. The Colts have a ton of salary cap space and money to spend, and they could use an impactful player on their defensive line. Clowney would also be a great scheme fit in Matt Eberflus' defense. Signing with Indianapolis would also give Clowney the opportunity to play the Texans twice per year, and going against his former team could be a nice perk to signing with Indianapolis. There could be a competitive market for Clowney, and his preference for Super Bowl contenders could rule out some teams, but sources tell me the Colts are going to be a team in serious pursuit of the star defensive end.
Don't know how much stock to put in the rumor considering the source but I'd say they are at least more credible than some random guy on twitter or reddit.
Clowney wants to be a part of a contender not a PRETENDER! He would sign with the Seahawks easily over the Colts if offers are identical or even if the Hawks offered a little less.
If the money is reasonably close he'll resign with the Seahawks but I wouldn't put too much stock into him wanting to play for a contender because a lot of player talk like that but money talks even louder.
This upcoming contract will be the biggest he'll get in his career so he's not going to take a discount for a contending team if another team is offering millions more. There's a reason he didn't work out a long term deal with Houston and why he made sure the Seahawks wouldn't reuse the tag on him and that's because he wants to maximize the money he makes.
Colts are the most dangerous team for his services if they are serious about signing him because they simply have more cap space than they know what to do with and not a lot of people they need to spend it on and we know Seattle really doesn't overpay much for players and they typically sign guys for market value.
Guess we’ll see. You may be right and Colts throw a ton of money at Clowney, or maybe they have a dollar amount they want to stay under. They do have other needs like maybe a QB. In any case signing a good DL is usually expensive. Seahawks do have a decent amount of cap so won’t make any assumptions yet.
Unless a big name suddenly jumps into the market the Colts won't be paying a ton for a QB in whatever direction they go and even if they did sign a QB to a huge deal they are sitting at 90 million in cap space so they would still have a lot of money to spend.
Too early to tell but I'm leaning on him not resigning with the Hawks for the moment. I think what he'd get on the open market will be more than what the Hawks will want to pay because I just feel they would've had something done already because you probably have a good idea of what he's asking for and off the top of my head they never had issues resigning guys they really want to keep.
It's still pretty early and they can get something done and they might also wait to see what his market is and if it's soft they could match whatever his best offer was.
Hawks have $63,914,510 in cap space and that number will actually go up as Dickson is released he has a cap hit of only $866,000 ( if released ) and the Hawks Save $3,000,000. Then you got other players the Hawks part ways with like maybe Fluker $500,000 cap hit if released with a salary of 3.4 mill. I think the Hawks will be around $70,000,000 cap space when all is said and done to sign players.
Something very different from past years is the Hawks offense is taking up like 90 million in the cap and the defense is like 40 million. We know where they need to spend their money this offseason. They can afford to give Clowney 20 mill per and still have 45-55 mill in cap space.

That's a shit load of money for an injury prone player who might just be past his prime.
Justin britt is another possible cut, 8.5 cap savings. I dont think the drop off was that noticeable and theres a few really good centers in the draft
Britt gets tossed around too, i really dont think he is that much better than average.

Seahawks Justin Britt PFF's highest graded center in NFC West
Ok now i will say i don't think Britt is a probowl Center but what he is is above average and he never gets thrown around unless he has two maulers on him at the same time. I am starting to feel like you got something against Britt. I was going to throw in the old "did he steal your GF" saying but no need. But i would like to know what he did that makes you dislike him so much?
