Of course he did. Even if you buy that it was unintentional (I don't) and he was legitimately trying to make a clean hit (he wasn't), it's at best negligent and still worthy of a couple nights off.
It's almost like having a bunch of former plugs as your "analysts" instead of actually good former players like the NFL, NBA and MLB broadcasters do is dumb as shit.

Here's a fun exercise - who's the best hockey analyst, announcer, colour guy etc. on television at the moment? Either country. Not in terms of their broadcasting capabilities but their actual career exploits.

I actually think it is Ray Ferraro and that's just sad. Not even a single HHOF'er?

Yep, I did the same exercise a couple of weeks ago and came up with the same answer. Probably him or Olczyk, unless you count Denis Potvin (who is a dreadful analyst).

Roenick?

And I seem to think I have heard Garry Galley once or twice.

I mean neither is great, but probably similar to Chicken Parm.

NHL Network has Scott Stevens on occasionally, but I have never heard him do anything in a game.

Do you count Roenick?
Def. missed Roenick. I thought about Eddie like Dragon said but I was pretty sure his numbers were lower than Chicken Parm's.

If JR is it, it's pretty crazy that from an era that produced so much scoring and HHOF'ers he's the best we've got and the next closest is +/- 400 pts behind him.

Are we focusing only on national broadcasts?

Because I know there have been some good former players on local broadcasts.

As I said earlier Denis Potvin is a HoFer and does the Florida games but he is just awful (and his playing days were not exactly recent).

In Denis's defense. he is drunk like 90% of the time he's on the air.

Yeah, he's awful though. Was when he was in Ottawa too.

I have to say that I can't stand the team of Dave Randordf and Louie DeBrusk. Somebody needs to remind these clowns that it's a national broadcast, not a Oilers regional broadcast.

Local guys are fine. Kinda interested to know if the Habs have anyone decent doing their French stuff.

Haven't watched in a couple of years but RDS used to be OK. I'm not a native french speaker so I'm sure some nuances get lost on me (for better or worse). I do remember preferring it to the English broadcasts a few years back.

I do know Marc Denis does their (I think) radio. every time the Habs are in town he hangs out with Rimer in between periods and they catch up. He seems like a good guy, and him and Rimer seem to genuinely be friends.

And he was better than Weekes, Boucher AND Pang. Maybe combined. :)
