Not sure it can get any worse than it already is there. Les still has some cache'. Should be able to recruit better athletes than Bailey. Should be able to line up some decent assistants. Maybe he will actually hire a coordinator that knows how to run an offense.
While still not great, Beatty left it in better shape than he found it.

Let me be sure I understand this correctly.

Les Miles was willing to accept a reduced amount of money from LSU to continue not working there in exchange for working to receive a paycheck from Kansas?

If true, he needs to be enrolled in the University of Kansas School of Business instead of coaching the football team.
From what Ive been told by Kansas and LSU fans (both son in laws of mine) Miles took a 6 million dollar one time pay out so he is free to coach and make millions more.

..and that "option" wasn't available until now?

They were too dumb to get into LSU??
Heard there was an issue with ACT scores, I could be wrong.

I will say I think Pooka wanted to go to a place where he could start day 1 and get noticed in order to get drafted. There was clearly no one better than him at Kansas and if you make plays in college regardless of your school you will get a shot if you are good enough.

I got this off of Jisney, which proves my earlier statement incorrect.

The path toward a deal became much easier last week, when LSU announced Miles had agreed to a lump sum of $1.5 million of the remaining $6.5 million he was owed under terms of his buyout.

Nah man his buyout was a whopping 1.5 million. Miles, LSU agree to one-time payout on contract buyout
Thanks, I was looking it up and you got there quicker, I was only told he settled on his $6+ million contract and didn't realize he took such a low amount. Kansas got a good deal for a former Natty coach even though he ran an old style offense and even though Les is the mad hatter. Facilities at Kansas need improvements and I hope they can fill the stadium with their own fans instead of visiting team fans.

So, he gave up $5 million he would have gotten for not working for $3 million/year to work. So, after two years he'll have netted an additional $1 million or $500,000 year. Right?

Only P5 conference that does face that sort of offense is the ACC...and they only see it once a year.

We see it every year. And it sucks. You can generally count on losing at least one member of your front 7 due to their cut blocks.

Yep, but Georgia is only one team from the SEC. Most of the SEC...or any other conference...doesn't see it every year.

And the injuries you mention is why a lot of teams don't want to schedule those teams.

They're pesky little fuckers too. If you don't have a disciplined defense, they can hold onto the ball for a quarter at a time, which makes me a lot more nervous about Saturday than I should be. Last year I knew we were golden because they weren't gonna get by Roquan Smith and Lorenzo Carter, but we don't have that anymore.

Im thinking this KU Job is kinda beneath him.. No doubts he could eventually make KU competitive..but not for the long run i dont think. Isnt that USC job about to open up?? The coach told his players he would be there for another 15 years......................... Thats your queue to GTFO of dodge...

Miles to Colorado makes a lot more sense to me.

He got his true coaching chops at Colorado under McCartney in the early to mid-80s when they were re-building that program.

His style, presence, and humor would definitely fit in Boulder. Kansas is an absolute graveyard for coaches. Why end your career there?
Well he does have money coming from LSU.. lol soo.. but I agree KU isnt the best choice.. Does their grass even taste good??

The deal is understandable. Les took 5m less to start working again, the longer he is away the quicker he becomes a relic of the past that nobody wants. He will at minimum be given 2-3 years so between 1m and 4m dollars more, and he will stay in the coaching relevancy discussion by getting back to work.

Just like everyone on tHoop has been saying, who really said "i want les" i mean he prolly saw the writing on the wall and KU is perhaps his last chance at a P5 until he gets stuffed down to G5/FCS/Coordinator levels... Maybe he didnt plan for retirement properly either and needed this last hurrah to be smarter? who knows lol.

OU fans should be rejoicing, it's likely that daunting KU offense is gonna take a step back under Les.
