But the results didn't come from his players. Came from Sahnnys. Gruden begged for KC to start.

Beg to differ somewhat. Let's say SM was never hired & Allen continued to be the GM (including personnel decisions). I would maintain that there is a very good chance that he would have traded Cousins at some pt & quite possibly have given RG3 another shot or two (with a lot of pressure from Snyder).

BTW - if you are maintaining that the success was mainly due to Shanahan - well then which 2 guys helped ensure that he was shown the door? Not maintaining he should have been kept just clarifying things.

So he gets NO credit for taking a 4-12 roster and winning a Division?? Dude what ever you are smoking, the rest of the world does NOT need to be exposed to it.

Some yes but not all. Why does Sm get credit for KC, PG, DJ, and JR??? This baffles me. Gruden wanted KC as the starter yes Sm supported it but it was Gruden who wanted it.

NOt after Rg3 failed in the Tampa game and Gruden blasted him in the pc. How in the hell would Allen spin that one off? KC success is not b/c of Sm. Its b/c of Grudens system.

Technically in 2015 they became his players, but if you don't see it that way then the drafted players and FA
had a significant impact to the success in 2015 too. Also according to the article in SI.com "MMQB" I believe it was SM and Gruden who pushed for KC to start. Look, I'm with you...I didn't like some of Scotts picks from either draft but when the team wins games, the grudge is gone. Its becoming more and more clear the players will never succeed with the people currently in charge. Losing SM "could" be a huge setback

Actually Gruden wanted it from the moment he realized RG3 couldnt run his offense, that would be in 2014... but that was shot down by Dan and Bruce. Dean have you ever taken a job as a Supervisor of anything?? If you walk into a job where things are not working, you keep the employees you had in place, but correct whats fucked up and the department starts to run as expected... who gets credit?? You the guy who unfucked things?? Or the guy who was there before you but didnt know his ass from a hole in the ground? Just because Scot didnt draft Cousins or Reed, doesnt mean he gets very little credit for correcting what was WRONG with this team. As socal mentioned, without SM, we would have started Griffin the last two years, and I have no doubt they would have extended him another 5 years.

Simple, they would have fired Gruden and brought in another coach to appease the QB. Make no mistake, the main reason shanahan got fired was because Griffin wanted him gone.

But didn't they just hire Gruden?

I don't believe it will be a huge setback. KC has enough weapons to succeed again in this offense and that should make us competitive again. I am not part of the sky is falling fan club. sorry.

As if that would stop them.

The Niners gave Chip Kelly a five year deal and fired him after one.

Had Griffin started in 2015 and the team finished 4-12 again, Gruden would have been canned, Griffin would have played in 2016 on the 5th ear option under a new coach. And they would have dealt Kirk for a late round pick in 2015.

If they extend Cousins then I think they should be fine regardless of who is running the show. If they are dumb enough to play Cousins strictly on the tag this season then they should be OK although this will leave them at risk for the future & result in a truly stupid financial decision. If they decide to part ways with Cousins prior to the season - well - then who really cares since their chances for success next season will be pretty slim. We will see.

This doesn't matter b/c its different positions. We were on the clock and one of the best Rb's was there and we traded down. Simple as that. A lot of fans are upset about this.

@Dean, let me ask this......we all know that Scott put a lot of value in having more picks, is it possible that trading down in order to get more picks was a greater factor than who was or wasn't there? Just asking..

ya but when a good player is there why trade down. HSM traded down b/c he thought Jones was just as good as Johnson. He was clearly wrong.

Great - let's play your woulda/shoulda game for another set of drafts. All of your heroes traded 3 #1 picks & a #2 pick for RG3. Let's say that trade never happened & instead they groomed Cousins (Yes they would not likely have made playoffs in 2012, but Cousins would likely be much more developed & possibly under long term contract now).

Instead during the 2012-2014 draft w/ these picks they select Luke Kuechly, DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham & Bobby Wagner. All of these were later in these rounds & likely where the Skins would have picked. If not these guys then there were lots of other similar players that were available (e.g. Aaron Donald). Do you think with those guys that this team would be better? Sounds like a lot bigger difference than between Jones and Johnson.

It just shows that your little game is pointless & you really need to get over it already.
