Appearing on 106.7 The Fan in D.C., the Washington Post's Mike Jones stated the Redskins and GM Scot McCloughan are "headed to a divorce."

Jones essentially stated that Jay Gruden's two-year extension was a P.R. move amid organizational chaos. "And that's the sad thing, because Scot is such a good dude," said Jones. "Loves football. Eats, drinks, sleeps it. You talk to guys who've worked with him in the league, and all he does is watch football and unfortunately drink. There's frictions that are going on there between him and (team president) Bruce Allen ... some type of blowup. This thing is headed to a divorce." Jones guessed McCloughan's exit will be made official after April's draft.

Mike Jones: McCloughan at Home, 'Probably Gone' After Draft

After April's draft? That is almost two months from now. Do you think that they can keep this under control till this time. Doubtful. Jeez - if this is true then why not just get it over with already and move on. Well - I guess one good thing out of this is that it sounds like they may winding up extending Cousins after all. Just a shame that it appears that this is kind of a mess rt now - I guess this is always the case w/ the Redskins.

I think its fake news but that my opinion. These "beat" writers are doing more to hurt this team than anything else. I wish these idiots would look for other jobs. They are wrong more than they are right. Once again, other beat writers in the country are typically homers and typically painful to listen to. However, the DC writers are focusing on ruining the organization from a media perspective and make us a laughing stock in the NFL. We just gave our coach a 2 year extension however the DC media found a way to twist it into a negative.

I have never seen anything like this. Once again, where are the Browns, Jags and 49ers articles? Those teams are honestly run by blind circus monkeys but you don't hear a peep from the media about it. The Browns actually appear to be leaning toward drafting Trubisky yet they have no Oline to protect him and gave up 66 sacks last year. Could someone cook up a quick article on the boards about how "dysfunctional" the Browns are please? For heaven sakes they won 1 game last year! Your organization can't be in more "disaray" than that correct?

Agree. I just wish that the Redskins would find someway to clarify this whole SM situation since it gets more concerning with each passing day. I hope that you are correct. If this is alcohol related then they probably can't and should not say anything about the situation. If it is anything else then please just come clean already.

Completely disagree. There's plenty of reason to wonder what the hell is going on in DC right now. Our GM is MIA and we can't get a straight answer on the situation. Do we have more talent and more success recently than places like Cleveland? Yes. But we also look a lot more dysfunctional right now. This is not the media's fault.

Meh. If it's not alcohol, Allen could have just said so. If you're looking for someone to blame, it's Allen. All he had to do was say SM's fine, and Allen chose not to say that. That's really what's led people like me to conclude one of 2 things: Either Allen is purposely trying to fool us into thinking SM is drinking, or SM really is drinking. It's one or the other.

Agreed. And... has their been any words of congrats or encouragement for the job Gruden has done from upper management? Yes, they gave him an extension out of the blue, but they sure haven't made is seem like they're thrilled about it. That's why it's easy to come to conclusions like... it just might be that the reason they extended him was just to get their QB signed. Ya think?! Our management group has major problems. I give a bleep about the media - not sure why anyone's focussed on that.

So the media reports are now appearing to be accurate and posters are still calling it fake news? They were the first to cast doubt on the grandmother grieving story, I still can't believe some posters here were actually buying that it was a possibility, and now the reporters are still being criticized? They aren't out to get the team, they just happen to be working in a market where the home team provides them with so much material to work with.

If you don't think the Browns management has been criticized you would he wrong. Their stadium has been described as a "factory of sadness". When their GM fails to show for the combine as rumors swirl about the reason the Cleveland press will jump on that the way the Washington press jumped on this story. Stop blaming the messenger, the fact is the SM hire came with risk we ignored in our glee at landing such a grera talent evaluator. Virtually nobody discussed this as a possibility 2 years ago and that was naive of us.

Clearly there is shoddy reporting in the press. There was never a doubt that SM wasn't at the combine. There could be a lot reasons why the Redskins went with the family story. It was true, they were covering SM for personal reasons, they aren't happy with him and plan on firing him. Pick one! If you are a media member and you are guessing what happened to him that is not news, that is analysis or what I would call blog material. Until someone knows for sure why he is absent the only news is he is absent. :2cents:

How many people would read a story that says "SM is not at the combine. While this is certainly big news we will report nothing until we have confirmation. See you next week"

Come on Sportster, they were digging to learn the reason because that is their job. If their research turns out to be accurate, and it's looking more likely by the minute, then why on Earth are they being criticized?

Maybe so, but why won't GMSM/BA/ODS .... SOMEONE! come out and publicly squash these rumors? It's getting out of hand with the media. There has been zero to little rebuttal.

What you seem to be missing is there's nothing wrong with media doing analysis unless they're reporting their opinions as facts. There is reporting, and there is analysis. Both are fine - as long as they present the reporting as reporting and the analysis as analysis.

Some of you will look very foolish when SM is let go and the real story comes out, which it always does.

LOL SM, his wife and the president of the team have no reason to deny a damaging report on SM right? No reason what so ever to lie? What motivation does the unknown source have to lie when compared to those 3?
