I have been looking to hear something like this. It makes sense with all that is going on.

Could possibly be a move to distract from the possible chaos going on right now in the org but Grudens been a good coach happy to see him extended.

Also. He's the first coach Snyders ever extended which is nuts.

Or it could be the first step towards signing KC long term. Clearly Gruden's system fits KC very well. Maybe this was one of KC's "demands". After all, every HC and QB are tied at the hip.

That's what I'm hoping

In the sense you think it's kind of a "hey look everybody everything's fine see" sorta deal?

Everyone has hit all around it. I think Gruden is part of the power base. It shows Cousins that he has a coach who will be here for awhile. It seems that the Redskins FO (Snyder and Allen) see Jay as a decision maker. No matter what you think of Cousins you have to believe that Gruden has helped him. With his contract in it's later stages you had to wonder if they were going to keep him. I believe this is the first time a HC has made it past his initial contract under Snyder.

The timing doesn't hurt either. Although I like both Shanahan and McVay, you have to wonder if both will be there in 2020. A lot has to go right for both to be there. Both teams need help.

Heh. No shit. Turner, Robiske (interim), Shotty, Spurrier, Zorn, Shanahan, all fired, Gibbs, and he quit after 4 seasons and Gruden are the only ones who weren't fired and for Gruden that sentence has to end with a "not yet anyway."

It is good news that Gruden was extended, real good news. SMH @ 8 freakin HC changes in 15 years. That's gotta be some type of record.

.

This was my first take, the timing appears to be motivated by other factors. If you were going to extend him how about doing so when it would show prospective Defensive Coordinators that we have stability as they were interviewing? Instead we extend a guy who has hired Jim Haslett, Joe Barry and now Greg Manusky.

Not sure the extension is a guarantee Gruden n crew are around for the next 3 years. It'd be nice, but it is the Redskins after all. Approach witn caution is all I'm sayin.

Take this for what it is worth. I was doing some errands this morning and listening to Craig Hoffman from the Fan. He had Russell on who said his sources did a late night contract extension with Gruden after talking to a players agent. I figured this would give all you quiet guys something to talk about. :rolleyes2:

No one has mentioned it yet but great job Dan Snyder for keeping things stable at Redskins park. Everyone is quick to bash the guy who has of late let his management team run the show. It has been a painful process with Snyder however, I think he gets it now. Good job Danny boy!

As there are rumors of the management being in complete disarray and Allen won't give us a straight answer on what's going on?

Pretty sure the beef is about wrecking cap space availability.

I think the beef is about appearances. Most though Scot was running the show. Then he isn't allowed to talk at the Senior Bowl and doesn't show at the combine. Leaves everyone to speculate, maybe there are personal problems, maybe there are professional problems.

I think a lot of people thought Bruce was in charge of picnics and uniform colors. So NOT true. He is 2nd in command.

With yesterdays extension of Gruden that is the first time in 18 years he has signed a HC to a second or extended contract. Coming off back to back winning seasons for the first time in 20 years. You have to give the entire team FO through players credit for that.

So Dan Synder stopped playing Madden ultimate team and found out there was a franchise mode.
