I went into the garage and pulled the covers off of an old standard that I honestly think that I would ever need again. To my surprise it still had some power in it and I'm thinking about employing it again here. So, fellas let me ask, will I get inundated with the kind of crap that I got the first time that I started this thread?.......

"Bruce Allen must be fired!"
Honestly, until a few weeks ago, I thought he was relegated to organizing reunion parties. He's good at that! But don't let him do anything else.

Funny, I knew that the compromise that was reached relegated him to dealing with contracts, cap management and those darn reunion parties. If the reports are true, and he's being resurrected, we may have to lure him into a inner sanctum, circle him with anti- demonic powders, throw in some ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics and wet him down with holy water, just to return to a restful sleep.

Here's the problem, sty. You fire Allen and Danny just replaces him with another spineless yes man. Firing allen only addresses the symptom. The cancer exists a bit higher.......

No doubt, but as long as we isolate it to singular form instead of the current two headed metastasis, it's going to be disaster, and not disaster squared. Your point is well made and taken!

I will happily admit I was wrong if this is indeed accurate and SM is still in charge of the draft. If that hack Chris Russell gets embarrassed in the process all the better. But sorry, just too many weird things about this story not to have some concern

I'd blame Bruce Allen; not the media. His non-answers were a major part of what led the media to come up to various conclusions. Again, when asked how SM was doing, he "answered" by saying he's dealing with a family issue. He didn't say how SM was doing, and that is why the media jumped to conclusions. And Bruce Allen is nothing if not a calculating person. He knew exactly how his non-answers would be interpreted. Don't blame the media - when it was Bruce Allen being their puppet-master.

Btw, it's kinda strange when Chris Cooley works on a radio station owned by Snyder, and he's labelled the chief stooge in this.

i agree the organization has dropped the ball here ... but that doesnt give the media the right create alternative facts or jump to conclusions without facts to support it.

this story really comes down to who told Russell on Feb 20 Scot was sent home.

Is Russell telling us the truth about Feb 20 ... or is his source giving him false information with some alternate agenda ?

or is it all true ... and Russell is just being made to look like the guy wearing tin foil hat.

:tinfoil3::tinfoil3::tinfoil3:

we'll probably never know.

Russell's point on Allen are spot on, imo:

The next part of this is Bruce Allen refusing to clear this up, despite multiple opportunities.

Allen appeared on a Nashville radio station for some reason that nobody can figure out and was asked (per Dan Steinberg of the D.C. Sports Bog and audio generated by the station) if McCloughan was “in place and doing everything that you guys hired him to do?”

Allen replied: “Yeah. Once again (his voice pausing and hesitating), if you’ve ever met Scot, and know his family, his father and his brother were on our Raider staff in Oakland,” Allen said per the Bog. “They’re about football and they’re about scouting. And as soon as the family matters are cleared up, we’ll be okay.”

Allen did not answer the question, of course, but that could be by design.

Allen was also given the opportunity to strongly deny the report on Thursday morning by Jones and the Post. He did not. Ben Standig of BreakingBurgundy.com also had an exchange with Allen, who did not refute story.

Mark Maske of the Post offered this from Allen, once again, refusing to deny any part of the story.

Jason LaCanfora of CBSSports had a couple of strange tweets on McCloughan. Apparently, somebody may have said that McCloughan was in rehab.

NOTHING in our report said anything at all about rehab or why he was sent home. We also mentioned that McCloughan was sent home and would be brought back when the Redskins decided to bring him back.

I was told on Thursday that McCloughan was expected to be back in a few days at Redskins Park. NOBODY reported that he was fired or not returning.

Trying to sum all of this up in as efficient way as I possibly can, leads me to this: Allen REFUSED to deny any of the allegations and had multiple opportunities to do so. Instead, he clumsily tried to offer strange explanation after explanation.

Many have wondered why the Redskins didn’t get out in front of his absence from the combine, which would have easily been explained. Many have wondered why the Redskins have not issued any kind of statement denouncing any of the various reports. The closest thing to a denial was what Allen offered to Ben Standig of BreakingBurgundy.com. Allen told Breaking Burgundy that McCloughan "he's a friend. He's been working hard."

The thing that struck me is after the Cooley speculation or the Brewer column or any of the other reports, the Redskins could run and hide and not have to answer questions. With his absence from the combine and the February 20 departure from the facility report, the Redskins and Allen had no choice but to face the music and were given plenty of opportunities to clear the story up. They have chosen not to do so. Even if they do so at this point, it would simply be a reaction to all of the criticism they are facing.

I’ve yet to hear from anybody that is employed by the Redskins that my story is wrong or my facts are off. Nothing. Crickets are still chirping.

None of this adds up Dad. Come on now, SM lives and breaths the draft, this make zero sense that he would miss it for the stated reason.

Russell is a bonehead.
Maybe he is, but why focus on the messenger, when Allen is pulling the strings and could have easily squashed this if he chose to.

Who cares about Russell? This is (or should be) about Allen.

Even if you think the media is jumping to conclusions the team is handling this horribly and opening themselves up to it all.

I think too many people like to blame the media for hearing things they don't wanna hear these days.
