I'm so sick of hearing the Mozgov/Delly nonsense. If the Cavs front office is so great, why did they choose not to replace those 2? Both guys were done very early in July. They had nearly 3 months to find their replacements before preseason. They decided not to.
For $100M, they could have kept them. With the cap rules -- it would have cost Gilbert something like $250M to pay those two guys. (I don't know all cap details -- but I know to sign guys now, he has to pay 2.5X to pay guys.) They probably could have replaced them with similar talent for $100M/$250M.
That would be for 2 guys who would probably be outside the rotation in the finals/playoffs.
I think Gilbert is willing to spend a bunch of money -- but at some point -- he can't resign everybody -- and it would be stupid if he really just threw away money. But the Cavs would really like guys who would be eating up minutes right now. Last night they played Felder & Liggins to eat up minutes -- they might as well continue to do that even if it costs them a couple of games.
