Isn't the word prime used for great players? I'm not even trying to be funny. I think that was the first time I saw the word prime used for a role player.

All players have a prime. Some are just more prime than others.

Anyway, it's pretty incredible that the Heat have won 10 in a row, and how well the offense flows with Dragic/Waiters.

Maybe it was as simple as playing numbers 7-11 together.
Seems like someone is always open.

Actually Shaq owned him pretty hard. He said when you lose key players like mozgov and delly and other teams are adding and coming for your head as the champs you need to add players ...Charles wouldn't understand because he never won a championship

Shaq didn't own a thing. Who's fault is it that the Cavs lost Mozgov and Delly?

Mozgov I understand. Delly was a RFA. They had 3 days to match it and they chose not to.

Even with Mozgov, I'd be willing to bet that he would have stayed in Cleveland for less than what the Lakers paid him. I could be wrong, but I don't remember the Cavs making any kind of attempt to keep him. With as fast as he signed with the Lakers, it makes it look like the Cavs let him know they weren't going to make an offer.

He's not putting up the kind of numbers to match his contract, but what he's been doing would actually help the Cavs. Plus, he's a decent rim protector, which they need. The problem he has with the Lakers is that the Lakers are terrible at defending the perimeter. The Cavs aren't (or at least not as bad as the Lakers).

Regardless, as was pointed out in the other thread yesterday, good bench/role players can provide quality minutes which allow the starters to get more rest.
James is forced to lead the league in mpg because if he sits you see what happens a lot of the time.

Yup that's one thing that was scratching my ear drums last season and not this year. Lebron's playing some heavy minutes. Keep racking up those minutes Lebron!

They prob thought they were good after watching summer league.
It was strictly financial.
Period.
well, when guys dont play in the Finals, when you pretty much KNOW you are gonna go ot the Finals- you get rid of them and try and bring in guys that will, like Korver.

Seems pretty short sighted considering Lebron was looking to be able to rest in the regular season, but instead is leading the league in mpg and whining that he needs help.

resign Waiters and make him a focal part of your offense and win nothing for the next XXXX years. It would be great. Waiters is great with the ball in his hands- his team just isnt- not over any significant period of time. Hey- l love Waiters talent- but for Waiters to be happy he has to have the ball- and if Waiters is one of your top 2 ball handlers your not going anywhere. You just arent. Your team isnt good enough.

Resign Johnson too- Heat already have 60M committed to next year with only Dragic, Whiteside, TJOhnson (and thats BEFORE Johnsons salary balloons from 6M to 19M the year after- so that 15M gap makes it IMPERATIVE they jump into the free agent market THIS year and NOT next year where 14M would be gobbled up for nothing), Ellington and McRoberts, Winslow, Richardson

you have a projected cap of 102 M....you want to resign JJohnson and Waiters? What? in todays market...id guess at a minimum of 20M combined.

sounds like the basis for another irrelevant eastern conference team to me.

(and this is considering Bosh goes 100% to plan and hes taken off even though I have already read articles where the Bulls will be willing to give him every opportunity that they can without their doctors telling him he is in danger)

and this is why the Cavs have some nice advantages over the Warriors when you look at a long term purview---

the Cavs have a lot of guys locked up right-- Kyrie, Love, Smith, Shumpert, Thompson are all signed for AT LEAST a couple more years. Frye is signed up for next year as is Jefferson. They intend to resign Korver with his Bird Rights from what I have read. They have the basis to keep a pretty deep playoff roster together.

The Warriors have to resign Durant and Curry and their max's will combine to go from 38M this year to 72M next year. Thats a shitload of a jump that is basically going to make sure Iggy and Livingston cant resign. You can see why they are trying to develop minimum guys like McCaw, and picking up the dleague guy from Miami- recently (whoever that scrub was) because next year they are going to NEED those guys who are on league min. salaries to play meaningful minutes.

Gilbert taking that whopping cap hit of 54M was for as much of winning the title that year as it was for the long term planning. Sign the guys up, get the core together while its still possible.

No doubt the Warriors will still have 4 of the top 20 players in the league which we i think all came to the conclusion has never been done before in the NBA--- thats a damn good place to start- but especially since they dont have a 1st round pick either (goes to the Jazz)--- they are really gonna have some problems adding to the roster next year.

Next year the Cavs will still likely have a pretty deep roster of - (1) James, (2) Irving, (3) Love, (4) Thompson, (5) Smith, (6) Shumpert, (7) Korver, (8) Frye, (9) Jefferson, and their developmental guys (10) Felder, (11) McRae.
How the Warriors can re-sign Kevin Durant and retain Steph Curry

the Cavs were never going to resign Mozgov. He had lost all confidence and didnt even play in the playoffs. If the Cavs are going to commit money to a guy he has to be a guy who plays in the playoffs- I think thats why they went and got Korver----Mozgov was a mess by the time he left- and considering how he has played in LA- the Cavs werent wrong.

When did I say or imply the Heat should do anything?

Not sure why you're so Heat butt hurt?

Now, as far as this roster in general, who really knows?

The one thing we have had lately is continuity.
If this was start of the season, vs happening when they were 11-30, there would be plenty of eyes wide open.

During most of the losing it was a crazy amount of different starting lineups/rotations.

"Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green called on James to “destroy” Barkley, and had his own harsh words for the player-turned-analyst.

You know, Barkley talk a lot. A whole lot for a guy who has not won a championship."
