It is beyond me to determine who a star will be, 1, and 2 years out from a player's career. In some instances, it happens right away, but that doesn't mean that it applies to every player. Ingram is 19, and 190 pounds. He has shown promise, but I never expected him to jump right out of the gate as a star, especially given that the ball was never going to be in his hands on a regular basis. Russell, as I've said many times, is imo the most talented, but is inconsistent, and also injured at the moment. And as for Randle, he's light years ahead of comparison, which is Draymond Green at whatever Draymond was in his 2nd season.
its very very hard to tell that early if a guy is going to be a star- i totally agree with you

hwoever- a lot of time- the best of the best you can tell right off the bat- --- thats my point....

there are definitely exceptions to the rule....but when you see a guy like an Embiid in his "rookie" year totally transform a team- you an say- DAMN- that guy is a "centerpiece" guy

Ingram and Russell certainly still have the potential and upside to be "centerpiece" guys- but neither one of them has jumped off the page wehre you have said--- DAMN- this guy is a multi-time all star and franchise changer.

there are AT LEAST 3-4 (if not more) guys in this upcoming draft that have the potential to be guys that just totally jump off the page where you say- DAMN- that guy is a franchise changer.

They'll never catch Brooklyn and hopefully they end up with, at worst, the 3rd worst record. I have a lot of hope that Miami is going to go into a hard tank since they traded away a bunch of their future picks. That would still give them a higher chance of conveying the pick to the 76ers than not conveying the pick.
think of the lotto odds though

even if Brooklyn finishes with the worst record- they still only have a 65% chance of even having a top 3--- and only a 20% chance of having #1 overall....

so there is a lot of luck involved.

I've been wondering about this rule against dealing 1st rounders in consecutive years. Didn't Boston get Brooklyn's pick last year? And don't they own the rights to their pick again this year?
they got a PICK SWAP last y ear----- Brooklyn gets Bostons pick, Boston gets brooklyns pick---- this year its just outright

brooklyn really screwed themselves...

they gave up a SWAP right in even years, and the pick outright in odd years.....

SOOOO BAD....criminally negligent.

you keep one of them...you still owe the 2018 pick to the Sixers if it doesnt go this year- but then that ORlando pick would transform into 2 2nd rounders.

the other side to it is--- if the 2017 doesnt go to the Sixers- then- as i said above- the 2018 pick does...that would mean the 2019 pick is the Lakers no matter what because you cant deal 1st rounders in consecutive years.

I don't know much about how the 2018 draft class looks, but this one looks to be very deep. So, if they are going to be bad enough to keep the pick, I'd like to see them do it this year. 3 of the top 4 are point guards. I wouldn't mind seeing them get someone like Lonzo Ball to play the point, slide Russell over to the 2 spot (which I think is his more natural position in the NBA) and leave Ingram at the 3 full time.

I think more voted for Durant than Lebron. It's pretty telling when 39% don't vote for the best player in the game. I do agree with Kerr though, the players made a mockery of it.

The all star game is the fans game, it always has been. The players have no business voting and they showed why. Some voted for themselves or friends who aren't close to all star level. The media also has no business voting because they carry grudges. Although, I'd say the media has more business voting than the players do.

It should be a fan vote, period. The all star game is for the fans, All NBA teams are for the players.
Lol

128 left LeBron off

154 left Durant off

Steph Curry only received 63 votes from players, which means 261 left off the reigning 2 time MVP

Warriors' Steve Kerr: NBA players 'made a mockery' of their All-Star vote

Any other way you wanna spin this to shit on LeBron?

Crazy thing is that we have never actively tanked in any of these seasons. Something always breaks wrong(or right in this case) to provide us with a top pick, and if that just so happens again, I definitely won't complain

just for your info- since you put "Winner" on a post that said its a worry that Jr can go 3/20 and shoot the Cavs out of a game

in the regular season AND playoffs- Jr Smith has taken 20 shots ONCE for the Cavs--- his 2nd game with the team. In that game 10 of those shots were 3's and he hit half of them.

so is it a realistic worry that Jr shoots 20 shots and shoots the Cavs out of a game?

absolutely zero chance--- if he didnt do it WITHOUT Love and Irving...doing it WITH Love and Irving?

no chance.

the most shots he has taken in a playoff game is 16--- and that was once- one of the 2 losses against Toronto last year.

Pretty sure he just used any numbers as an example.
Point was that JR has been known to run very hot or very cold, and if its a cold night he can kill you.

You should probably climb out of Lebron's jock long enough to read my post #8833. Also, it doesn't change the fact that Lebron's passive aggressive shots at his teammates are old and tired.
EDIT : I read post 8833

Yup, which is why I'm not mourning the loss of that Lakers pick yet.

What? Everybody except Cleveland and GS have the same chance of winning the title, save for maybe SA. Sounds like you're just salty at Boston. It's all good, I despise the Lakers too. But Boston is better, very young and has a ton of assets. I'd take Boston's near future over the Flakers all day every day.
She agreed that the Celts & the Lakers have the same chance at winning this season- which just happens to be a very low %. And she's saying it's embarrassing since the Celts seem to be a good team- while Wiggy & now you- are saying the Lakers pretty much suck.

Didn't James handpick this roster?
Didn't James make sure his Klutch posse get paid?
Isn't Gilbert already forced to pay record tax penalties in back to back seasons?
Seriously, wtf are they supposed to do that requires him to run his big yap?
The trade deadline/buyouts are coming, and I'm sure they'll find something, but as far as right now...just stfu and play ( or don't).

#learnfromtheSpurs
Oh no you didn't call his team a "POSSE"!!!!

they dont even have anything to give up for Carmelo anyway. They arent trading Love for Carmelo thats for damn sure.

I wouldnt trade Thompson, Shumpert and Felder for him.

Trading Felder for Melo would be funny just to watch the Knick fans go crazy.

Heat played 45 games. Still waiting from that Hassan meltdown that Wiggy has been promising us

Warriors, especially Zsa Zsa were baiting him, yanking his jersey, etc.. all game.
He did a great job ignoring it.
