I hope you are right...I really do. Tell me this SKinsdad, why are we waiting to hire a DC when they are flying off the market? If Brantley was the main target, why did he leave DC without a contract?

How is that brand new HC already have a DC, yet, we are going on week 2 almost.

I think people have a right to panic because Gruden doesn't have a great track record of picking DCs. Haslett and Barry were disasters.
well you certainly have the right to panic if you want , i am not , we will get a good guy in place

wade phillips didnt want to be here what else can we say and bradley wants to be with his buddy . wlikes got promoted

we will get someone good

We have a coach going into his 4th year of a 5 year contract and poor talent on D. Anyone that interviews could be thinking "if I go there I could be out in a year, especially with Snyders history."

If they sign Manusky you might as well say Gruden is gone after next season and we will be back to rebuild mode plain and simple

For whatever it is worth Brian Mitchell was saying on CSN Mid-Atlantic tonight he believes Manusky will get the job and he thinks he is a good hire.

Manusky sucks if they sign him its inevitable Gruden will be fired after the season and we will be in another rebuild situation

Even thought his defenses in Indy were terrible?

Can Gruden be this stupid? Seriously! Haslett and then Barry were bad enough. Is the man just not that smart or is he wanting to get canned?

Its mind boggling honestly.

I think some of these people bitch without providing stats. Manusky is an 8 veteran DC. Great? No. Terrible? No. What I find funny is many are ready to hire Bradley for being Carroll's boy. Anyone consider the Seahawks went to two Super Bowls AFTER Bradley left? I am not saying the guy sucked but if he wanted to be here and the Skins were dead set on him then it could have been done already.

Hey, hey, hey, hey, no so fast bub, isn't it time to use this board's rallying cry? To wit; "Improvement"

Ahhhh, I can just envision their posts now... "We're going from an 0-16 DC to a 5-11 DC, that's an improvement!":D

C'est la vie

This ^^^^^^ or some form of it is something I believe has weighed significantly on the mind of any Def Co thinking about the Skins DC job. Add in everybody already knowing what Wade Phillips put into the atmosphere, that's the talent level of the Skins defense is shitty.

And it's no surprise that Def Co's with clout/a good, solid reputation have stayed away from this job.

Well according to a cliff notes of his resume, nothing sticks out and it appears he was let go 3 straight times. It appears he did an average to below average job in every position he had.

With respect to Bradley, he had 2 terrible years and 2 fantastic years while in Seattle.

Redskins defensive coordinator resume: Greg Manusky

what talent did he have ?

I don't know and I don't really care. If he has been let go three straight times and has not produced then there is a problem there. I am not one for excuses and "lack of talent" seems to be an excuse to be honest. Perhaps in one spot, he didn't have a lot of talent, but I highly doubt a "lack of talent" would be the reason he failed with all three teams.

Once again, the fact that no decision has been made is not a good thing. If they have interviewed Bradley and Pettine and there are no reports of offers being made, what in heavens name are we waiting on? If neither Bradley or Pettine are it, fine, lets line up some interviews with coordinators that we feel might be the guy. So far, it appears that isn't happening. We appear to be waiting around and nobody can explain it.

We could have probably had Phillips BUT we waiting around till almost 2 weeks after firing Barry to try to get him in and it was too late. How many more times is it going to be too late? And saying that Manusky is somebody good is inaccurate and you know that. If Gruden hires Manusky, then he should be shown the door next season unless a miracle occurs. You simply can't continue to make bone headed personnel decisions in this league and keep a job. I like Gruden a lot but the Haslett and Barry decisions were pathetic choices. This would be his 3rd strike. We can't afford to keep bringing in sub-standard defensive coordinators.

Didn't Mike Shanahan bring in Haslett? If so, how is that a strike against Gruden? Shouldn't this be his second strike? Also seems like Wade Phillips had little interest in coming here, it was his last choice.

Maybe the 'Skins are waiting for a chance to get a DC from the remaining playoff teams.
And for a rather extreme idea, maybe Gruden gets fired before the start of the new season.
I'm not sure the F.O. wants to keep him, he's not a Scotty guy. Reputation wise, and even job wise
I think people realize the skins need to make the playoffs in 2017. Synder will overreact if not.

Yeah Shanny did, but Gruden retained him for his 1st year as HC of the Skins.

I hope that doesn't happen. Firing Barry was more than justified and Gruden is far from perfect, but he has done some good things. Including something that no HC has accomplished in the Snyder era. Having back to back winning seasons. Firing Gruden after that would be a huge mistake imo.

AGREED! Although I worry Gruden's loyalty to his staff my blind him from making tough decisions.
The OC and DC hiring will be critical. More so worried about the D.C.....The offense may even be a little more efficient, I assume some things will be, and need to be simplified in the red zone
