Real time, I thought it was a clean hit. In slow mo, I see the head contact. I think he gets a suspension, but it highlights for me a problem with the "no head shot" rule.

A guy 6 inches (15cm) taller than another player is at a real disadvantage with this rule. It is pretty tough to make physical contact (which is part of the game) without making contact with a much shorter player. I mean, how does a Chara hit a Gaudreau without head contact . In cases of significant size discrepancy, it sure seems like the taller player is hamstrung by these rules.

I just don't understand hitting a guy like that in a pre-season game where you are up 3-0 with just over a minute left in the 3rd period. If I'm SuperNintendo, I'm looking over my shoulder every time I'm going back in my own zone to get the puck the next time the Hawks play the Blues.

Well, I would say that shorter players were pretty hamstrung by the previous rules.... Headshot? Tough luck, shorty, grow another six inches and this would've been avoidable!

I'd much rather see taller players ease up on questionable hits than shorter players facing brain damage, if I had to choose....

I would welcome him back with open arms. His feud with Richards and subsequent dismissal was the beginning of the end for the promising Jackets of a few years back.

I'd take him in a minute over Johnson, Prout, or Harrington. Especially with the young guys needing a mentor.

Oh, is it the Pens' 50th? I must have missed Steigerwald mentioning it EVERY TWENTY SECONDS during the pre-season game against the Jackets on NHL network.
