Going through some of the old posts it was pretty universal that the Leafs paid too much for Andersen. In hindsight, great move.

The Isles only have $5.5 mil left to the cap. Assuming they keep De Haan his extension is going to eat up most if not all of that.

Hamonic to the Flames for some picks/prospects would be okay.

I suppose for his cap hit he's a fit anywhere but I feel like the Flames need scoring above everything (thus why I think they should hit Edmonton for Leon).

Wouldn't mind a move where JVR goes to the Flames for assets and the Leafs use those assets to get Hamonic. I think everybody wins there.

I'm a JVR fan and I think he would look pretty good alongside Johnny Hockey and Moneyhands, so that would be okay.

/The only downside is Calgary trades with the Leafs never seem to work out well for the Flames.

JVR is a somewhat tough, defensively awful 30ish goal/60ish point scorer. I have no quarrel keeping hold of him I just think at some point someone big-ish is gonna have to get moved to help the blue line.

Only issue with him is his pending UFA status. Combined with other upcoming contracts the Flames need to handle (Backlund, Tkachuk, mystery starting goalie etc.) it might be tough to get it all done long-term and in that case the price may not be worth it to them.

Hopefully, that Flames mystery starting goalie will be either Tyler Parsons or Jon Gillies in a couple of years.

For all the stupid moves Edmonton has made and all the mismanaged young players, their strength was talented young forwards. And they've parlayed two of those into a second pair ceiling defenseman and a forward that's not as good as either they gave up. And cap space to spend on Kris Russell.

I'm gonna reserve judgment on this trade because like Dash I don't think that highly of Eberle and Strome was at one point not long ago a pretty talented and much-wanted young player and can still turn it around. He isn't Nail Yakupov.

But Chia is not good at this. That Griffin Reinhart trade might one day look as bad as Erat for Forsberg.

Would Henrique for Galchenyuk work? Galchenyuk in final year of deal, Henrique has 2 more at $4 million per, Galchenyuk is 23, Henrique 27. What else would need to take place here? If a pick is thrown in, how high of a pick?
