Who's to say he isn't, though? Who's to say there isn't another GM that would pay that?

I don't think the agents are out of line, I think the RFA system in general is broken to begin with and in a league where the player is restricted pretty much through to the end of their prime why the hell would I blame an agent for maximising what a player gets? I think if we were allowing players to compete for money in a system wherein it makes more sense to negotiate for more money in their younger years we would see fewer long-term big-money contracts for guys in their 30s that they will never ever ever live up to and everyone benefits from that.

There are plenty of agents that can negotiate without alienating teammates, fans, or holding training camps hostage and still make their players happy. Agents can get great contracts done without us hearing even once who the agent is and without stupid trade demands and criticisms of the entire organization.

Kurt Overhardt is not one of those agents.

Well, if you're basing it on his negotiations with RyJo and Kesler, 1) It's become quite apparent that he was dealing with morons when he was negotiating for RyJo, and 2) Why is it his fault that the Flyers gave a promising young centre an offer sheet?

I'm just not getting why he's getting the heat. Shit, 2 different agents issued public statements regarding trade demands this season alone. If you dislike agents in general okay, cool, but they essentially all operate from the same playbook.

Just out of curiosity, if he's being honest and city/salary aren't an issue, does anybody really blame Trouba for wanting to be in a situation where he's played in his preferred position?

Clearly it is code for "I want to play for Mike Babcock".

So they usually wound up moving?

No wonder he employs it so often.

That's the kicker, I don't think he's being honest, I mean he was playing 20+ minutes a night last season on average (okay, he didn't get much PP time), but I think he wants out of Winnipeg.

And nobody would blame him for wanting out of Winnipeg, which is why I wanted to stick to a strictly hockey sense of it.

Johansen said a few times during the holdout that the trade request was not his idea. He also said if he had his way he'd go to camp and let it get sorted out.

I guess strictly from a hockey sense, it's still a little bit of a head-scratcher to me. He's obviously looked at as a valuable member of the team, it's just that there are two big horses that play the same position that he does. I don't know, the grass isn't always greener on the other side, but the grass also isn't green in the winter in Winnipeg.

I would love for the Devils to pull the trigger on Fowler or Trouba. I'm not sure if Shero is willing to pull the trigger on what would be necessary for either one but would love to add a proven top 4 guy (I think Larsson's departure will hurt a lot more than people realize).

I guess it depends on how much you believe in the defensive handedness debate.

It's funny, for the last couple years I heard Devils fans going on about how their team had great young defencemen on the up but needed forwards. Now that they've traded one d-man in an utterly lopsided trade for one of the game's better forwards I keep seeing posts saying they need help on defence. What happened?
