One more thought: I think it's safe to retire the "Revis Island" rhetoric.

Good point but most corners got torched this week so far. I think it is time to start giving him safety help out there more regularly. Sucks if that doesn't turn around with his contract there.

There was a Revis Island at some point but now its clearly a vacation spot.

Jets are a classic team that needs to watch the age of its players. IIRC they are one of the oldest teams in the league and regression happens quickly sometimes.

I didn't see the game, but if he was man up on AJ all game...yes, Revis Island is closed!

Solid win for CIN on the road...especially giving up 7 sacks.

I didn't see the game either but I think the stat is the Dalton was 10/10 going towards Revis with 152Yds and 1TD.

And Green went for a buck 80 I think so a fair amount of it was probably on Revis.

Time to start playing some zone!

The Jets vaunted, top five defense still can't make a stop in the 4th quarter with a lead. Consistancy gentlemen...consistancy

It looked to me like he was expecting safety help on the big TD pass to Green and didn't get it. So, maybe Revis was still on Revis Island but nobody told him?

Some wild comebacks week 1 that you just wouldn't think you would see. Week 1 though always seems to be one of the craziest weeks in the NFL with surprise wins. Week 1 did not disappoint for a fun week of football.

1) Looks like there are some really bad defenses out there. Just seemed like the offenses dominated more so than the defenses this year where last year that was the complete opposite.

2) Very impressed especially with the OL play this year.

3) Aaron Rodgers definitely looked much more like the Rodgers of the past. Got back some of his weapons and made some plays that only maybe 2-3 QB's in this league could even think about attempting.

4) Just looking at the Broncos the offense looks light years ahead of where they were last year in game one. OL looks greatly improved and in turn the run game looks like it could be quite the force. Won't be winning games just on the back of the defense as much this year.

Very specifically there were some very bad pass defenses in week 1.

For some reason I'm reminded of Rob Ryan talking about everyone trying to copy Seattle's defense and they are sucking with it. There is probably a lot of film of physical CB/S hybrids getting destroyed on crossing patterns and deep throws. Even Seattle should've lost due the Miami WR dropped the easy TD.

It does look like olines are getting the upper hand again finally. Lots of NFL teams have been drafting oline for awhile now and maybe there are some dividends finally coming to fruition there.

The only team that seems like they want to run the ball a ton is the Rams.

Well the Broncos stayed pretty committed to the run game. they threw the ball 26 times and ran the ball 26 times.

Also I would like to add that the teams that used a FB this weekend looked pretty good. Those linebackers don't seem to like a FB flying at them in the hole.

And you are right a lot of teams keep trying to copy the Seahawks and well the Seahawks are the Seahawks because they have the players to actually run the system well. It really helps when you have All-Pro type talent at the Corner and Safety positions. Maybe only 2 other teams in the league have that type of talent in the secondary.

Chiefs were playing a lot of combo coverages in that first half. I think they got way too cute and probably outsmarted themselves with their gameplan on both sides of the ball.

- Dalton going 9-11 for 153 in the second half after getting pummeled for 5 sacks in the fast half is pretty nice. Last year was perfect for him with Green, Jones, Sanu, and Eifert all healthy and of course Gio in the backfield. This year with just Green the only real threat coming into the game, the Jets sent blitz after blitz, and Dalton never once got happy feet or that deer in the headlights look. Kudos to him, and maybe he's finally becoming the QB that can make guys around him better and make plays under pressure rather than needing a perfect set-up.

- Dak and the Cowboys just got a lesson on why pre-season is not a precursor for the regular season. The talent is there, but it's going to take some time. Anyone see Dez Bryant lately? APB out on him?

- The Cardinals took N.E. too lightly in the first few drives on defense, and that cost them the game. Had they played like they were capable of before getting down 10-0 and looking clueless and sloppy (missed tackles, blown assignments everywhere) they would have won.

- Buffalo has real issues, and yet they still could have pulled that game out. Baltimore is not very good, IMO.

- Indy, in all these years, still hasn't found a way to build a defense to help their vaunted offense. It's mind-boggling.

- I feel bad for Allen in S.D. That's just brutal. I feel for the guy.

- I still say the Raiders will make the playoffs. The defense will get better, and that offense is good.

- Cleveland ... Another QB down. At this point, you can't even make a joke about it. Hue was better off staying in Cincinnati until a better opportunity opened up. Hell, Bengals win a playoff game, or two, I could have seen Marvin retiring (he's been hinting at it for a bit now) and taken over the Bengals.

Yeah, they gave up at least 2 big plays where the DBs simply dropped coverage of their player for no reason. Its weird that Andy Reid has a fantastic record after bye weeks but sometimes comes out totally flat to start the season.

Yep, predictable problem with young players and backups when trying to run combo coverage. Just run underneath routes and that coverage is going to fold like a cheap suit. Pretty telling that gaps and coverage magically got a lot better in the 2nd half.

It is but the Chargers also lost their 2nd best player, too. Also have to factor in Whisenhunt being back in the fold might have given the Chargers a bit more pop to surprise the Chiefs at the start.

That said, there is probably a lot of truth to what you're saying.

Don't worry, the Browns will fire Jackson after 2 or 3 years. Marvin can hang on that long.

-Impressed with the Dolphins and Ravens defenses so far.

-Vikes defense deserves credit for doing it all for the Vikes against the Titans.

-NE without their 2 best players looked really good and Garoppolo was impressive.

-The Colts has some serious secondary issues with so many going down yesterday.

-The curse on SD receivers continues and is unlike anything I have ever seen!

I'm with Gooch on the Fins:

They went into a house nobody in there right mind wants to play there, but if the rookie tackle gets in zero splits instead of A splits, a blocked FG doesn't happen and they get out of there with a win.

Vikings defense saved an easy win until they get a real QB starting next week.

Lions, yep Megatron is gone, and they off loaded some on the defense but I got a feeling they hang around in the hunt a little come the end of November....
