The 12's can be rest assured that their jerseys and flags are safe for another 5 years!

But they were not the first and by the time it was trademarked it was quite common. Not just in our football, but other sports with 11 players namely soccer.

I get holding onto unique traditions, but a more or less generic term isn't that. There is no doubt at all that their use of it goes farther than others and it has deeper meaning. That alone doesn't make it unique. It just doesn't.

Pretty much this. A&M was using it before Seattle, but they were far from the first to use it.

Who was using it prior to 1922?
I see a couple others like U of Mich and Iowa, not sure it ever stuck with those universities? I also saw a handful of other NFL teams have used oh well:noidea:Go Aggies:suds:

I guess it didn't, the point is A&M wasn't the inventor of the phrase. Still, A&M was smart to trademark that shit. Definitely making them some cash right now.

There is no tradition in common. That's a strawman offered up by dumbasses. Nothing more.

There is no song they use in common, nothing the fans in the stands do in common, or anything else. Those are traditions, not numbers.

Seattle has used the common term 12th man since the 80's. As did several other pro and college teams. The way over the top aggies did a trademark on it decades after it was commonly in use. They neither created it, nor adding anything new to it.

It's no more a unique trademark than the 19th hole restaurant, the 10th frame restaurant, or the 12th man in soccer used overseas. We just have a twisted legal system in this country that allowed such stupidity.

But you just keep on hating on it. Just makes us use it even more.

:suds:

If you somehow read into the quote below as being hate...
I still get a chuckle out of seeing a pro team pay for a college teams tradition. I know Seattle fans don't like to hear it, but it is pretty silly.
then you are way too hypersensitive about it. If the fans of Seattle like it, bask in it.

You are a fan of a division rival dumping on silly things. I'll reserve the right to call that hating on it.

As I said, I don't own anything with a 12 on it, nor call myself a 12 in any real life conversations. The team pushes that phrase at every opportunity and quite a few fans buy into it. If it gives them some sense of unity and acceptance then good on them. All I do on these continued threads about the phrase the 12th man and A&M is correct the dumb things said by the mostly blind haters.

You basically just said exactly what I have been saying. If the fans like it, own it and who cares what everyone else thinks. You took it a step too far by calling me a "hater" because I think it is kind of silly paying a college for the right to use it.

ok, so you didn't get the part where I said you are a division rival fan and I reserve the right to call anyone in that role a hater when bringing up things against a rival? It was nothing more than that as was already explained.

Talk about overly sensitive.

I mean of all of the things I've ever said, that's the one that grinds your gears?

Grinding my gears? Nice try.

You're just a hater!

Just saying, telling someone you took something a step too far for something as vanilla as 'hater' just seems well out of place on this site. At least wait until I do say something worth getting uptight about. That will happen sooner or later.

It's a marketing gimmick and I'd say that it's been a much more successful one that most ( how many folks even know what the Cards marketing gimmick is? It's so weak it's not even noticed)

You are making my point Harold. I have been saying all along I could give a shit less about stupid gimmicks. The only ones who really seem to care are a lot of Seahawk fans. When it comes to Sunday, Cardinal fans are plenty engaged. Just look up the false starts created by a home crowd over the past 10 years.

Wear your "12" jersey proud Harold and don't worry about what other people think.

It appears you do, because you keep going on about a money making media gimmick being silly. It's never silly to be successful....perhaps being a Card fan that eludes you.
I'm sure you'll show how much you don't "care" by continuing on in the same vein.

Holy shit your reaching.

I'm not trying to make the Seahawks look bad. I'm commenting on a thread created by someone else. It is silly. We all know it.
I know that. You are just making fun of the fans.

The top three are Packers (Cheeseheads) ,Steelers (Terrible Towel) , and the 'Hawks (12th man).Other teams try to create what they have done but fall short. At least they don't get written instruction on how to be a fan.

Is it just me or does it seem like Seattle got a pretty damn good deal here? That's dirt cheap considering how much 12th man memorabilia that they sell.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a hundred and forty grand for multiple years? Isn't that kinda the equivalent of me finding fifty cents in my couch cushions and buying some life savers?
