Pretty sure he wants to frame this to be about SB's so he can avoid the inconvienent statistical comparison between Rivers and Ben. Hint: Many think Rivers is actually better
I liked Ben better out of the three on the draft, and I'd take Ben over both today, but Rivers is a very good QB. The failures are team failures not Rivers failures. At least that's my opinion.

I'm pretty sure you have to look at everything, right? Some QBs are winners and some aren't. It's pretty easy to pick out the 2 winners in that draft.

And people wonder why the Mannings didn't want Eli there.

Teams won, not individual QB's.

Ok, teams won and not the QB's. With that being said, and you being a Cowboys fan, who would you rather see under center in New Jersey, Eli Manning or Roethlisburger????

As a Steeler fan, I can see both Eli and Rivers being booed out of town. Yes Eli has 2 Super Bowls but he is inconsistent year after year. As to where Big Ben is high caliber year in and year out......

I have nothing against Manning or Rivers, and I maybe just going homer with Ben, But after all the dumbasses we went through at QB from Bradshaw to Ben.........

He apparently wants the QB that can complete TD passes to himself without anyone pass blocking for him.

Who wouldn't???

2010 they were #1 in both offense and defense. That is a ranking towards total yards so take that how you want but should show they had a dynamic offense and defense that year.

And he had plenty of other weapons for a good number of years. He had Tomlinson for I think 6 or 7 years. Same with Vincent Jackson. For a while they had one of the best OL's in football as well.
They're special teams were pretty much all time terrible in 2010. They missed the playoffs by 1 game at 9-7, behind the Chiefs who won the AFC West at 10-6. And just look at some of these losses.

At Kansas City, gave up a 94 yard punt return touchdown, lost by 7.

At Seattle, gave up a a 101 yard kickoff return touchdown AND a 99 yard kickoff return touchdown, lost by 7.

At Oakland, had a punt blocked for a safety AND another punt blocked for a touchdown, lost by 8.

At St. Louis, had a field goal attempt blocked, lost by 3.

Against New England, missed 50 yard field goal with 27 seconds left, lost by 3.

It became absurd how bad their special teams were. It was like a game, what ridiculous way will the Chargers special teams blow the game this week? And those are just games they lost where the special teams screwed up. They beat the Broncos 33-28 in a game where they missed another field goal (albeit a long one), gave up a 103 yard kickoff return touchdown, and allowed Denver to recover an onside kick.

I have never in my life seen special teams cost a team so many games. All in all that season, they had 4 blocked punts and another deflected, three kick return touchdowns, and a punt return touchdown.

Just curious, he was semi-the #1 overall pick via trade.........one of the big 3 from that draft class, and the only one without a ring, good stats, but lacks the ring

A.J. Smith & ownership tore apart what might have been a powerhouse if John Butler was able to build it. Who knows maybe Rivers would never have been a Charger. The bottom line for me is I'd like to see the Spanos family sell the team.

I've already said I'd rather have Ben over both Eli and Rivers, but that doesn't mean Rivers isn't a very good QB capable of winning a ring.

Not saying that at all, I'm saying teams win championships QB's get too much blame or credit. Some SB winning QB's even get falsely called ELITE.

Romo and whomever you're trotting out there as backup, seems to suggest otherwise.

Well Romo and the Cowboys haven't won but that's not all Romos fault and if the did/does find a way to win, it will take more than Romo having a great year. Your Seahawks won as a great team, RW did more than his share, but without that defense the Lombardi never lands in Seattle.

He's an above average QB, but this late in his career.....

He won't be winning a Super Bowl.

I never voted in the poll, mainly because I think it's an unfair poll. I agree he probably never wins at this stage of his career being on the Chargers and he's tied to them through 2020. Whenjoy you say above average what exactly are you saying. I'll agree he's above average but where you snd I probably disagree is how high above average, I think talent wise he is close or could have been an elite caliber QB. Had the Chargers and Rivers won a SB or two he'd be in the best of all time conversation. Think about this though the Chargers are not all that old of a franchise and they will have two of the best QB's never to win a SB/Championship.

one year....

I will give you this....After looking back at his record as the starter from 06-15, they have been in the playoffs 5 times and missed 5 times.....So you could see this as glass half full or half empty....
My opinion is that a QB that has been a 5 time pro bowler, passing td leader, passing yards leader, come back POY, passing rating leader, and a career passer rating of 95.5, is well able to lead his team to a SB and win....
I read that Pitts targeted him in 04 draft but he went too early and Ben was an alternate choice......
