So we just r*pe every last penny from some crappy schools with laughably one-sided "go fuck yourself" deals.
Then TEXAS and OKLAHOMA bolt for greener pastures in 4 or 5 years with the extra cash.

It is a dumbass plan that seems like a waste of time for everyone involved.
I have no idea why any schools would be so desperate.

The Big 12 gets little (except for nonstop howling laughter from the B1G, ACC, PAC, and SEC).
The expansion schools gets even less.

Do schools like Houston, BYU, Cincy have any pride whatsoever??
Shitty deal for the Big 12. Unfathomably shitty deal for the expansion teams.

Pride?

We're talking about MILLIONS of dollars per year difference. The chance to build your program up to the next level.

the SEC is winning the Houston TV market right now.

That's the real reason for Houston being considered.

Yup, and its up to Texas to let K state and OU know this.

Damn, until their is an all religious conference BYU is kind of screwed.
The West Coast Conference (of which BYU is a member in all sports other than Football) damned near is an all-religious conference. I think Pepperdine is the only school without a religious affiliation.

Added in edit: I lied. University of the Pacific is also a member. But Gonzaga, Loyola-Marymount, Portland, San Diego, Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Saint Mary's are all Catholic schools.

They don't bring anything to the table.

Yeah, but I meant for football, a revenue sport. The WCC is primarily religious based school, even though Gonzaga has sold its soul but it is nowhere near the Big East when it was formed. Being in a conference with no football teams is only going to push them further down the ladder and make them less appealing even though I thought they'd be 10 times better for our conference than Utah.

I just hope BYU doesn't fall to the waste side like the academy schools have gone.

Except a good team, a market the Big 12 recently lost, and are enough of a brand name that the Houston vs Oklahoma game is on national tv opening Saturday of the season.

Do they really bring any market share though? The only thing I see is opening the door for another school to take a run at Texas recruits.

If Houston gets in because of Texas then the Horns have another team to back their play in whatever they want to do in the future. Texas has an agenda in everything they do, just like everyone else does. But make no mistake about it, there is an understanding somewhere between the Powers-That-Be that there will be some assistance given back to UT by Houston whenever they need it. Otherwise, there's no earthly reason for Texas to want another competitor for Houston talent and to take the chance Cougar High might end up being a thorn in their side by beating them too often in football. Texas is playing the long game here.

They are already making a nice run on Texas recruits being in another conference. Why not keep that talent in the Big12 and make it a stronger league?

Baylor minus Briles and no recruits coming in looks like an absolute dog in the making
K State minus Snyder (coming soon) = likely the same
KU
ISU Has a chance but to date... Not much

WVU could be on the verge of a coaching change

Texas could be as well....

League needs to be proactive IMO. Houston has TCU potential and that's a good thing. If Texas and OU have problems recruiting against UH then Texas and OU need to make changes in leadership IMO.

Thank you, and maybe those east Texas kids that leave for the SEC will stay in the big 12, possibly to UH or another Big 12 school. Make Houston a Big 12 city again, its a bigger market than Cincy or Memphis.

I think that's a short term issue. Cougar high won't be pulling in many more 5* prospects. Unless we invite them to the Texas conference. Man, fuck this conference. We need to move to a big boy conference.

No coach with a pulse is going to touch Baylor for a long time. Too much going on and... It's Baylor
Yeah but there is always someone that thinks they are IT. Except for the $$$, I don't see any way a P5 or G5 head coach will be interested.

Come to the PAC like you already should have and bring UT with you. Damn that would be so sick to see those two teams compete in the conference of champions. Can you imagine? I mean the match ups.

No member including OU has that option until the GOR is up so, may as well make it work for that short term if for no other reason to strengthen your own schedule for a chance at the playoff.
