28 pitches, 1 walk, 1 HBP, 1 run for Zimm in the 1st. Fastball topping out at 91 MPH. Sure hope that isn't a trend.

More bad base running......We need a traffic cop on 3rd base, a red light or simply some traffic cones......Something anything...........

Good God, that must be the 150th Detroit Tiger to be thrown out at the plate this season.

It isn't just the lack of speed with guys like Castellanos, Miggy, etc....it is the "blow out" that often happens on a first to home run. These guys are not in shape to run that distance. After that turn at third...the air is out of the tank and the mph drop drastically. LOL

3rd base coach looked like a putt putt golf course wind mill.........Just wind milling that arm from the pop of the bat.....Totally neglecting who was actually doing the running.....His arm was twice as fast as Nicky Cs feet.......

Zimm can't spot a breaking ball, and his fastball is pedestrian. Not a good combination.

Not even close.

If nothing else, he's rendered Clark's coaching blunder insignificant.

Nice three innings from Ryan, anyhow. Even Lowe with a scoreless inning.

What a treat to be in the stadium last night to witness JD's return. It was magical to see him hit the first pitch out of the park and the Ovation he got for the home run and after the game.

It's time to count on the young guys rotation. The offense is probably going to have to be 27 Yankees-like from here on out.

Agreed, but that bruised toe wasn't enough to take him out of the game last nite, it shouldn't be enough to sit him today......Pampered players.....I'll play for 100k a year with a missing foot.......

But how many times have you been hurt during a game? It's always worse the next day, guys have finished games with tore up knees and are unable to walk the next day. I'd rather he sit a game, day game after night game especially, than have him take another one off same toe and be out a few days as opposed to just one.

Tigers reward Kyle Ryan's 3 scoreless innings yesterday by sending him to Toledo, and recalling Blaine Hardy, who has been mostly ineffective at the MLB level this season.

I can only guess this is because the 3 innings make Ryan unavailable for a couple days, and Ausmus wants a lefty in the pen who can actually come in and pitch Friday-Saturday.

STARTING PITCHERS
Detroit Tigers
RH Justin Verlander (11-6, 3.54 ERA)
Lifetime vs. Mets: 1-1, 6.00 ERA in 2 starts

New York Mets
RH Noah Syndergaard (9-5, 2.48 ERA)
Lifetime vs. Tigers: Never faced Detroit

Justin Verlander takes the mound seeking his third straight win and fifth in his last seven starts. He's been strong in July, with a 4-0 record, 1.69 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 42 2/3 innings.

* Meanwhile, Mets starter Noah Syndergaard has pitched well of late but hasn't gotten the run support. Syndergaard is 0-2 in his last four starts despite a 2.82 ERA (7 ER in 22 1/3 IP).

Agree if that's the case, it just happens way to often with V-Mart, he's constantly needing days off for being nicked up......He's a DH that can't run with or without that toe, he should be able to bat though.
