Yeah, that is why superstitions baffle me. Things like that make no sense. I can see not mentioning it to Colby so it doesn't mess with his head, but other than that 3 million people could mention it and it would have zero effect on Colby.

If nobody makes mention of it, then I have no one to place blame on. Otherwise I blame them all . I mean thats exactly why it didn't happen right?

Honestly, I thought about mentioning it myself, but thought the better of it for exactly the reason you said.

I mean seriously. How much effect can a poster have on something from thousands of miles away, and posting in somewhat of a vacuum to begin with?

Susan Slusser, Oakland's beat writer, with this gem of a tweet: "Rangers win 5-1, but no perfecto, no no-hit, no shutout".

I don't know what's worse, that she's taking it as some kind of brag-worthy victory that they didn't allow history, or that she feels the need to clarify that no shutout took place after she already posted the 5-1 score.

5-1, and you're telling me a shutout didn't occur? What?!?!

Moral victories seem to be needed

Rangers' Derek Holland: Hit hard in Wednesday no-decision

Holland didn't factor into the decision against the A's on Wednesday, giving up four hits, five runs (four earned) and three walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out three.

The veteran southpaw didn't have it Wednesday, and has now given up 10 runs (nine earned) over his last two starts, after producing quality starts in his four prior trips to the mound. Holland's April was somewhat deceptive, as he finished the month with a solid 3-1 record and 2.48 ERA. Since that point, he's surrendered 35 hits, 33 runs (31 earned) and eight homers, while seeing his ERA rise to a bloated 5.14. He'll look to reverse course when he takes on the Orioles next Monday.

As long as someone isn't mentioning it in the dugout I have no problem with broadcasters or anyone else mentioning it.

But Busby can't just mention something... he has to word salad fumble fuck through a broadcast.

The 22-year-old has been solid since returning from his seven-game suspension, and is enjoying a strong month with the long ball. Odor now has five homers in June, and has hit safely in nine of 12 contests. His first round-tripper, a 379-foot shot in the sixth, plated Jurickson Profar and completed a Rangers' comeback from a 5-0 deficit, while his 433-foot solo blast in the eighth helped pad the Texas lead to 7-5. The backstop got the Rangers' comeback from a 5-0 deficit with a 383 foot-blast in the sixth, and then came back with a 424-foot go-ahead solo shot in the seventh. Chirinos now has three homers in the last two games, and has hit safely in five of the 10 games he's started this season.

The veteran outfielder continues to rake in June, now slashing .356/.397/.525 for the month following Wednesday's performance. It was Desmond's eighth multi-hit effort of June, and he's on pace to match the 22 RBI he produced in May. The 30-year-old is contributing all across the box score this season, with a .310 average, 28 extra-base hits (18 doubles, a triple, and nine homers), 43 RBI, 17 walks and a 12-for-13 success rate on stolen bases.

Rangers' Sam Dyson: Notches 11th save of season Wednesday

The 28-year-old closer put the finishing touches on a rousing comeback by the Rangers from a 5-0 deficit by snuffing out any chances of a late A's rally. Rangers' Jurickson Profar: Out of the lineup for Thursday's game

Profar is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Profar will get a rest day after playing in the last 19 games for the Rangers. The designated hitter spot will be filled by Mitch Moreland, who will hit seventh. Profar has slashed .327/.373/.455 in June, and as long as he stays productive at the plate, the Rangers should be able to find room for him more often than not.
