Yes, and I said at the time it was a product of a ridiculous BABIP and that he was still striking out too much.

I also said in ST that I'd be thrilled if he hit .275 with 18-20 HR. That is looking like a more realistic ceiling with every game.

If Romine is a better OF than Aviles AND a better 3B....I can't see keeping Aviles because his bat is slightly better. But......until they can get someone that is a good deal better.....

Fangraphs still ranks Castellanos as one of the worst fielding 3B in baseball. So a .275 BA and around 20 Homers and 80 RBI would make that easier to swallow.

His RF/9 this year is actually above the league average for the first time in his career ... by .01 (2.69 to 2.68). We'll see if it lasts. He's still not the butcher that Aviles is at 3B.

I am sure Tigers are crossing their fingers that JaCoby Jones shows something in Toledo. They have him playing in the outfield....but he has been a SS/3B. A little more power than Aviles but prone to K a lot. Rolls a good doobie too, I hear.
